Damn.

Now you're making me re-think my career aspirations!

:bang:

I was a janitor. At least I'll become a Janitor(al) Surgeon. Hah, no, no one?

Question in the title: Would you rather attend an unaccredited new MD program or become a janitor?

I think you'd make more money and have more prestige as a janitor, so that would be my choice.

Discuss. Derp derp.
I see what you did there.

Serious response: I'd rather be a janitor than attend Hollywood Upstairs Med School or Stewarts School of Medicine, but I'd attend Hogwarts Medical School in a heartbeat.

It's custodian, dick.

Why would you bad mouth a new MD school, anyways?

Janitor hands down. From all the info I gathered on SDN:

Accredited MD > Janitor >>> Unaccredited MD > Foreign MD > Caribbean MD > Fast food worker > Clown >> Other random jobs that will help you to get into an MD >> DO

:naughty:

I'm tired of the trolling around here. Clowns are clearly better off than fast food workers.

Let this be a Fast Food Worker vs. Clown thread then..

Weekly?! They're damn near daily and will pop up in any thread. Especially threads that aren't MD vs DO.
I'm surprised the BEEJ Attitudes thread didn't turn into a MD vs DO debate after a few pages.

"I'm not really down for giving a beej, but I'd do one before I'd take a DO acceptance."

Anybody ever take the high road here?

Considering that more than 1,000 people read the original thread and only one person started this one, I would say almost everyone takes the high road. The loudest voice in the room isn't the only one conversing 🙂

I'm interested in pursuing a dual Janitor / DO degree. It's a perfect holistic combo for a family practice generalist who wants to have his own community practice. As with OMM, the janitorial skills I will acquire are just an added bonus to my clinical repertoire. I want to be a doctor who treats the patient, not the symptoms, and I also want to be a janitor who understands that the dirty linoleum in my exam room is more than just a surface covered in dust and scuff marks. I know that the AOA / COCA is planning on rolling out this program at 32 community colleges next year... I just hope one of them shows me some love!

Which school did Dr. Jan Itor go to? A combined training program really sounds best here.
Original.
Well done

Many janitors have probably worked harder and helped more people than some of the whine bag classist coddled babies on SDN. Something to think about at least.

Sack of wine from Troy, IMO

You guys are making fun of janitors, but they can make some money if they own a large business. Thank about it, like plumbing, it's a job no one wants to do. The problem with most janitors, is that they are under contract with a business and not alone. Someone I knew had this type of business, and it was good, but it's a lot of work doing it. I was a janitor too at one point, and as a kids I hated do it, but it was worth the quick bucks.

So, I got a 43 on the MCATs and have a 3.95 GPA from Yale with a triple major in Music, French Literature, and Neoclasical Poetry. Do you think I can get into HMS?

(As long as I dont have to be one of those doctors that has to touch any homeless people. I saw a homeless person once. Ewwwww...)
