I dont know about anyone else but I am getting excited/nervous about UNC's Adcom meeting coming up this wed. and the possibility of hearing back wed/thurs/friday. It would be such a great relief to find out you made the first cut and not have to wait until the end of January for the last cut.

My birthday was on Sunday, but I think I will celebrate it this upcoming weekend if I get a phone call of acceptance. 😀

you and me both!!!! everytime i think about it my stomach starts getting all upset. i had several people wish on their wishbones over t-giving for me (so sweet)!!!

i am so nervous; god i hope my interviewers make it to the meeting and that mother teresa's file doesn't come up before mine . let the force be with my file on wednesday .

i have a sinking feeling though that i am going to be waiting it out until feb. for a UNC decision 🙁.

is anyone else but me planning on calling them first thing dec. 1st if you haven't heard anything before then? 😳 i figure there's no way i can get a letter before dec. 1st b/c i think the earliest they would get them in the mail would be thursday after meeting on wed., ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

ahhh but you will find out Dec 1st, propably by a phone call first before the actual letter which may of course come a few days later. UNC accepts 1/2 of their class by dec 1st. In addition, the first batch of acceptances is usually almost all the out of staters and some instates since they want to give those out of state heads up. The other half of the class (mostly instaters) will be accepted by the end of jan, or early feb. I say you guys have a good chance since you both are from instate? 😉

yeah, i've heard they call the 40 or so ppl they are extending offers to on dec. 1st , so you get a call before a letter arrives. i am going to call first thing friday morning. i seriously don't think i can let it drag out all day and possibly all weekend.

I interviewed with the first group and nearly everybody was from out-of-state, including myself. After the interview this became my primary choice, so here's to hoping for a call on DEC. 1. Good luck to everyone 😀

just wondering if anyone had any more insight on who they accepted Dec.1....my guess would be that since they are only taking around 10 out of stater's this year that they will probably accept 8 or so on Dec. 1st that way if they get into their state-school they can make up their mind quickly about UNC...
So that leaves around 32 acceptances for us in-staters....but any ideas as to whom they will take? UNC system schools??

Speculating will agrivate you, but get you nowhere. Seriously, having sat in the UNC adcom meeting for a couple of years, there is absolutely no way to pigeon-hole who will be taken. And I'd be surprised if the don't take at least 10 out-of-state intially (there will likely be more than 10 total this year), so maybe 25 or so in-staters. All just empirical guesses, but enough to get the more paranoid of y'all to worry a bit more. 🙂

hmmm, when I met with Dr. Guckes in August he told me that they would only take a total of 10 out-of-staters this year to slowly combat the loss of Dentists in NC until ECU opens. So if they took all 10 on Dec 1. then that would leave 30 in-state spots open

and the waiting continues...**Nervous** ~180 applicants and 5 hours to decide their lives! Wouldn't it be great to find out from your #1 school so that you won't have to fly around for other interviews....so much money save...something that i need for holidays! shopping!!!!😀

Ha, your not the only one I have a feeling that they wont make all 40+ calls on Friday and it may get extended into monday. Wouldnt that just put your nerves through the "hypothetical ringer".

I would think they could make all the calls on Friday - but maybe that's just because I won't be able to take it if I have to wait longer. It's bad with all this buildup when you know it doesn't really mean anything if you don't hear because there's still half the class to fill...

God, how terrible would it be to have to wait until Monday; although wouldn't we get the mail on Saturday if we were accepted? And seriously, how long does it take to say "hello, you're accepted" ? I would think it wouldn't be too long of an endevor. Heck, I would be happy to volunteer to help them make those calls and get it done quicker.
Like my aviator?! Its a robot on a cloud. It will just have to suffice until I can get a good picture of my beautiful lab!

they will not call today. unc is very big on playing by the rules, unlike some of the other schools 🙄.

i looked through some old threads from last year and it looks like they start calling at 8am and go into the afternoon. i think they will have all of the calls done on friday. i hate to say it, but if we don't get a call on friday i think we're going to be waiting it out until feb. 🙁

it is after 9am and nothing has changed on aadsas for me 🙁

they will update aadsas around lunchtime and they are making calls later today.
