hey there...if you dig up "the official unc january interview" and "the official unc november interview" theads ....there are alot of people in there. As for myself, I think I will go to the January 13th interview. Are you going to be there?
I was in the October Interview, but did not get in for the Dec.1st cut so I will be up against you guys for the Feb. 1st acceptances.
The interview went really well: I had one Faculty Interview, 1 Private Practice Interviewer and 1 student interview. These were scheduled around Tours/Financial Aid Session & School Overview/Student Panel Discussion.

Dude you are kinda scaring, if your interview went so well, how come u didn't get accepted. BTW how did you prepare for the interview? I am just getting the gist of what I want to say to the questions.
Definately dont have prepared answers...I feel like I did last year when I interviewed and obviously I didnt get in last year.
- If I were you, I would look over my application and just try to relax and meet as many students as I could there.
-I believe nobody from my school (UNCW) was accepted on the Dec.1st cut because they took the highest out-of-staters and also the 4.0 24/25/26 DAT Scores from In-State. But this being my 2nd cycle I am hoping for the best and looking forward to good news on Feb 1st.

Could you explain what you mean by "prepared answers"? I don't think it's a good idea to completely wing it either.

I didn't have "prepared speeches" but I did prepare well beforehand. I knew what points I wanted to get across when asked "why did I want to be a dentist" and "what did I want to go to UNC" I also practiced the answers to a couple of other questions: the typical ones that are on the interview feedback page. I was asked specific things about my application, so I would make sure you could talk to your personal statement and your EC's. I would also think of a short list of things you want to tell them which would make you stand out from other applications and try to drop those into your interview if you can. Most of my interviews were VERY colloquial so I would practice a mock interview with a friend or advisor if you can- being able to hold a conversation is important. That being said, if you are trying to recite memorized speeches to questions, you might falter and not be able to recover as opposed to just being yourself and having an idea of what you want to say ahead of time! Yeah..definitely don't have stuff memorized but be prepared for common questions asked. I applied at UNC too but didn't hear Dec 1st. Hopefully I will get some good news in feb. As for as instate concerns, I only knew one from UNC that got in (not to say that there aren't others) and she is a beast in terms of stats so no suprises there. Goodluck UNCWDentist, hopefully we'll be classmates 🙂 lets hope for the best! and goodluck to all of you going in for the January interview. UNC is a great school!👍

uhmmm...i like to think about the 30-30-40 rule. 30%gpa, 30%dat, 40%interview.

I think all the SDN interviewees should wear a blue ribbon or something like that to the Firday night social so we can know who is SDN and who is not.🙂

i found UNCWDentist at the october interview. he said he would be wearing a carolina blue top, and i saw a guy with that color shirt and went up and asked if he was UNCWDentist. we ended up being in the same group the next day, which was funny.

this is the last interview, so i think they will be done interviewing applicants for the 2011 class after saturday...i would call the admission's office and find out if you are SOL for this cycle, which i hate to say...i think you are 🙁.

yep... i'm going to be a kentucky wildcat 😀 i just can't pass up the warm fuzzy i get from UK (went back after i was accepted just to make sure i wasn't hallucinating when i interviewed 😉). i don't think i have ever met such a happy, nice group of people. no matter what happens the beginning of feb. i will be attending UK, but i am still curious to see if i get accepted at UNC, so i can't bring myself to withdraw my app...just yet. 😳

there were some nice people there....there were some NC state kids and a couple of Duke kids drooling over our #1 basketball team.
did they say when they will let us know, is it Feb 1st?
Also I am wondering how many spots are open and how many ppl put down deposits b4 the Jan 15th deadline. Did they mention anything about that on saturday?

feb 1st for those who will be accepted. Otherwise, you will not hear from them until much later. If you don't hear from them on feb 1st, I don't think your chance of getting in is "good". For my group, they did not mention anything about how many people put down deposits before jan15th. They did say they accepted half on dec 1st. It would be nice to have another acceptance to consider 🙂. Good luck folks!
