UNC interview January 14th?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It took a little over a month. I interviewed on Nov 18th and they e-mailed me the week before Christmas. They actually told us during the wrap up meeting that if we were accepted we would hear back before Christmas. So they seem to be pretty good about sticking to their timelines.

Thanks for letting me know! PBA had told me three to four weeks after the interview... and then they called after only one week. I was getting worried about UNC, I was afraid they might do the same sort of thing and I wasn't getting my phone call. So now I need to really wait until the end of February/beginning of March. That's seems like such a long time...

Anyone got any info about remaining interviews at UNC? I'm getting a little worried... :scared:

Aight, I think I'm gonna go cry now.

I had my interview the other week... the 2nd interview took almost an hour and 20 minutes.

I MISSED THE CONCLUSION part for the day... they never told us to come back! Anyway, anyone who applied recently PLEASE update me? I will call the office on Monday, but in the meantime, just PM ME!!! THanks!!!!

I interviewed on the 14th of Jan and they said we wouldn't be hearing yes or no until the last week of February at the earliest. So I'd expect a 6 week turnaround time before you get too worried.

Just got mine in the mail today!!!! 😀

I'm just down the road so if you're out of state give them a couple days...

Yay! 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 👍

Missouri... Makes me worry since I'm in east Tennessee, but who understands the post office? And "nothing yet" is still better than "rejection"

True true! I'm sure you'll here something soon. My stats are not that great, which is why I was caught completely off guard. I have a 3.75 overall with a 3.6 in Science, but only an 84 for my PCAT. My big selling point is that I want to work in retail and translate in Spanish. Good luck though!

Congrats you all who got in!!! I can't wait to hear from them. I had my interview on the 28th. Guess I got to wait 2 more weeks or so.

DHG, you got in to so many schools...have you decided which one to go? Are you sending deposits for all these schools? Congrats again!!! 😀

I didn't send a deposit to Mercer but I did to UT and I will to UNC. Hopefully Ohio will accept me too. I planned on giving deposits to all three. I'd be happy at any of the three and this gives my husband options for finding a job. He can apply in all three cities for work and probably we'll go where he finds the best job 👍 Unless he hasn't found anything by the time school starts and then I'll just pick my favorite. Having options is nice.

Waiting sucks but I'll cross my fingers for you! :luck:

🙂 That's the plan.... This is contingent on him actually LOOKING for a job... he's starting to worry me. Well, he's been looking, but not much action yet if you know what I mean. Reading job descriptions on Monster and saying, " hey, I'm qualified for that..." has not connected with actually APPLYING get. Someone needs to kick him in the butt... I already tried

I feel a bit guilty holding more than one spot. Oh well, hopefully we'll figgure something out sooner instead of later.

Any suggestions for the UNC interview other than whats in the interview feedbacks?
The feedbacks were pretty good. No real 'tough' questions, just the usual "strenghts and weaknesses" thing. The toughest one I had was something like "Tell me about a time when your values were challenged and what you did" or something similar.

The student interviewer is a great resource. Mine was very good, I think I got lucky. Pick the student interviewer's brain, they can give lots of good info about the school. My faculty interviewer was super-friendly. She asked good questions but the tone was relaxed and conversational.

Just make sure to close by telling them how much you want to attend the school, don't be nervous, everyone is nice and relaxed.

I'd suggest getting there a little early or scoping out the location the night before, because all the one-way streets on campus are confusing and it took us forever to get to the parking deck, even though we could see it in the distance... we went in a lot of circles because of the one-ways and I was almost late.

There are renovations being done to the Pharmacy building so you won't get to see much of it on the tour.

You think Ohio State's was well represented in the feedback section? I noticed you are accepted there and I have an interview there on the 25th.

Its 2-24.

As for the the Ohio state interview feedback, I'd say its pretty complete. They were super friendly, and very interested in learning about you and making sure that you got all your questions answered. Pretty much everyone on my interview day said they got the "Why OSU" and "Why pharmacy" questions, so be well prepared for them. They have current studnets from a variety of years, a finacial aid person, and someone from the admissions staff in the interview holding tank to talk to. The students were very open about their experiences at OSU. The tour was alright, but nothing to write home about.

Good luck 👍

Just to let everyone know, if you were trying to get into UNC from out of state and haven't heard that you are in already, they have filled all their out of state positions for the class. I got a phone call today from the admissions department to let me know that I was waitlisted because they have currently filled all out of state slots. But, don't worry if you're out of state and really wanted to go to UNC and haven't heard anything. She also said that as spots open up, people on the waitlist will get moved in. I don't think I'm going to end up going there... not if it takes too long to hear whether or not I make it past the wait list.

Do you happen to know how many out of state seats there were? Thanks for this info. I guess it was really competitive this year. 🙁

There's only 18% of the whole seats allocated for out of state. So out of 150 seats, there are only 27 seats for out of state. Yeah...it's pretty slim chance for us out of state people. I didn't make it to that 27 people. A lot of people that were interviewed were from out of state. I wonder why they even bothered to invite us for interviews.

Several of my out-of-state friends have interviews at UNC this Friday. What's up with that?

Don't feel bad... I didn't even get an interview! Hope I have better luck with UT-Austin, but it's probably even harder to get in there from out of state.

I knew it was going to be really tough competition for UNC, but I had decided to give it a try anyway. And yeah, everyone I met at my interview was from out of state as well.... I had wondered why they were interviewing so many out of state. Maybe to get the best pick for the few slots they could fill? And as of right now its not a complete rejection. Because its out of state slots that we're competing for, a student from another state might get into their in state school and decide to go there instead of UNC... opening up a position on the wait list. At least the slim chances make me feel better about being waitlisted!

Oh, and about the interview still coming up. I'm assuming that any out of state people interviewing would just get automatically waitlisted if they "qualify" for it. Which only makes sense, they picked the first batch of students back in December... so the earlier you get an interview, the more likely chance you have of getting in.

I am out of state and had my interview Jan.14th. I have a friend at my school that did too and he has already recieved his rejection letter. Will they tell me if I am on a waitlist or do I just have to guess? Maybe they forgot about me. 🙂

Oh and about University of Texas, I was looking online and they only accepted a few out of staters last year. It seems like you have a lot better chance at UNC. Why do you think UT accepts so few people from out of state?

Hopefully they actually had out of state spots open for those that interviewed on the 24th, like me 😕 . I'd be more than a little annoyed if I came all the way out here just for the opportunity to get on a wait list.

Since your friend recieved a rejection letter, and I got a phonecall about the waitlist, I'd assume phone call = good (waitlist), letter=bad (rejection).

I'm sure they will be calling you soon if you interviewed on the 14th as well. And just because you interviewed on the 24th of January and you're out of state doesn't mean your acceptance letter isn't on the way now. You might have been more qualified than me, and they would have been able to make a decision between then and now. Good luck, either way!

I wish I interviewed back in January. My interview was febuary 24th 🙁

Hey Just to let you know... I am an out-of-stater and I got accepted to UNC. I have paid my deposit and such too... However, I just got an acceptance from my first choice school, so I will probably be attending elsewhere. So that should be at least one spot, good luck to you all!!!

What are your stats if you don't mind my asking?

3.75 overall GPA, 3.6 Science, and an 84 PCAT, my selling point is that I am a Spanish, Chem, and Bio major and I want to translate in community pharmacy. I don't know if it made much of a difference here, but it made a HUGE difference at my first choice (I know there are some people with better stats who haven't yet gotten invites there, and they mentioned it specifically when I interviewed) good luck though!
Anna

Has everyone received their notification yet? I swear I've been checking my mail every day for the past two weeks and nothing, zip, zilch, nada. Just wondering if I should be concerned yet. 🙁

I'm not sure about everyone else, but I got my acceptance in the mail, not an e-mail as they did for interviews... so maybe you should check that obsessively instead!

I have been checking my snail mail. I haven't stalked the mailman yet, but it's a thought.
