I'm a North Carolina resident and I just got an interview invitation from UNC for October 13th. This was very exciting, but...

I'm getting married on that day, and had to decline. I couldn't be more dissappointed. UNC's interview procedure says that if you have to decline an interview for any reason, your name gets thrown back in the applicant pool and you are not guaranteed a future interview spot.

I was wondering if anyone had this same (or similar) situation with UNC and whether or not the got invited back for a later date.

I can't believe my number one school picked the one day out of the year that I couldn't make, I'm heartbroken... 🙁

why didnt you explain that and ask them for another date (I'm not familiar with their policies)???

I did explain, it's just policy. I understand that dental schools have to have concrete procedures regarding these things to avoid any complications with the hundreds of applicants they see every year. Luckily the administration assistant is very pleasant and helpful and has taken note of my special circumstance, so hopefully things work out.

ooh I dont think it will hurt your chances since they considered you and you are in state.
I also got married a month ago so best of luck and most importantly have fun! Things will work out for you! 🙂

That is absolutely, horrendously terrible. I am SO sorry about this, but I have a feeling this will work out for you. Congratulations on your marriage, though! Don't let this taint your wedding day, even if it is your top choice. Things happen for a reason.

That's so unfair! I'm so sorry that is happening to you. That is sort of a ridiculous policy... even Columbia allows you to choose your own date! I wish you the best and I hope they realize that they should give you a better date before they lose you to another school. Best of luck! No matter where you end up going, (and you'll go somewhere because you already got an interview at UNC!) I'm sure it will be the best choice for you!
