So, what are my chances of getting into either of these two schools? I am a NC resident. 23 AA, 22 TS, 19 PAT. 3.45 oGPA, 3.14 bcpGPA. I have 50+ hours shadowing and 70+ volunteering at a government-run dental health clinic, other EC like MoM clinics, RMH, food drives and such. Basically, what are my odds?
I'm also looking at Louisville, Kentucky, Florida, VCU, Tufts, Columbia and USC.
Honesty would be the most helpful.

I'd say your odds are 90-95%. Your GPA is solid, and DAT is great, as long as you have a small sliver of personality you're good to go 😉!!

good luck!

Your basically have the same but slightly better stats than me lol....I'm instate at well with a 2.99 sciGPA .....22 AA.

I got a interview invite fro ECU in early August. So you should hear from them and UNC soon.

You have excellent stats!! I'd say your toughest decision will be choosing between the two 🙂

Thanks for the support guys! I've already had the interviews at UK and ECU, with a UNC interview on 10/13. They've gone well so far (really relaxed), and I guess soon it'll just be a waiting game until 12/3 🙁

Hey have an account showing what it is like at ECU dental school for those who don't know what we do 🙂

www.twitter.com/sheena_ECUDMD

Don't listen to this person, she's crazy.😀 just kidding! Definitely go follow her if you want to get a feel for what it's like at ECU. I was very very attracted by their program and loved reading her updates when I was applying, and still check in every now and then. She's great at giving the inside scoop of what dental student life is like!

I liked the idea so much I decided to try it myself, but UNC version. After the first week of school I fizzled out on it, but have decided to try to get it going again. here's my attempt at replicating her idea if you're interested: https://twitter.com/UNCdentStudent Hope I follow through this time!

If anyone has ANY questions about the application process for either school, or any UNC specific questions please don't hesitate to shoot me a PM. I know Sneil would offer the same too, so ya'll don't be shy!

Best of luck to everyone.

Congrats on your interviews!!!

It's great to see a thread about my side of town (I will be transferring to ECU next year). And if you dont mind me asking, What did you major in?

Keep us updated on your progress im interested to see where you end up 👍 .

Hey, no problem! I am a Bio major at UNC. But as far as majors, you just need good grades in the pre-reqs and everything else gives you well-roundedness! So if you're worried about that, don't be. I've met several engineering and philosophy majors at interviews, just as an example.

I'll let you guys know how the UNC interview goes, I've heard it's pretty crowded at those interviews b/c they only have the 4 dates...

Hello telemonster, I got an interview from UNC as well, see you then.

Ross Hall is certainly impressive, everything looked innovative and obviously brand new. On the tour though we couldn't go inside the sim lab or the clinic, which was too bad b/c I wanted to see more of the set-up. And we didn't get to see any of the lecture halls either b/c class was in session. But overall I was impressed by the technological input on the curriculum.

I was accepted to both ECU and UNC this cycle and have no idea which school to choose! Both have pros/cons obviously, but if anyone could offer further guidance, I would appreciate it!
