Is your status on AADSAS back to "Received/Under Review" from "Invited for interview"? hm...😕

Don't be alarmed at all. Happens every year. Don't be alarmed if you don't get in from the December selection meeting, either.

Chapel Hill only picks half their class pre-January. They then have one more interview round and pick the rest in February. If your status changed it might just mean you'll have to wait till then.

so does that mean if we have the "received/under review" we can assume that we weren't considered for the dec 1st acceptance??? =(

Chapel Hill only picks half their class pre-January. --TRUE

If your status changed it might just mean you'll have to wait till then.-- hope it's NOT true

I'd make sure that your statements are 100% valid/accurate before you make them (i.e. the last sentence of your post above) before you cause some wide spread panic...

PSU SHC 414? your status also has been changed?

The status change does not mean anything regarding your chances of a Dec 1 acceptance.

I'm not trying to assume anything, just speculating on the reason for the change and to offer some hope that it doesn't mean rejection. We have no idea what it means, no one does and UNC isn't going to do any decision making until late Nov. This is when their first meeting is.

Dr. Guckes says that from your interview, one of your interviewers must nominate you and from the nominees a meeting will be done at the end of Nov. to decide. If your not selected, back in the nominee pile you go till after the Jan interview and then another meeting where you'll be looked at again.

A quick question about the UNC interview. I have mine on Nov. 15th and there is the social event on the 14th at 6:30. Can anyone tell me what goes on at this event? Does it have any impact on the interview process?

I called the admissions office. The status change has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not you are or will be considered for a December acceptance. I know someone on the admissions committee, and he said that they won't even meet until very late November/very early December. The status change seems to be simply standard procedure after your interview has been conducted and your application is awaiting a decision from the admissions committee.

To the previous post: The social event the night before will most likely not play a role in the adcom's final decision. None of the students there will take part in the admissions process or have any decision making power. But, I would suggest you go if at all possible. It would be a great opportunity to ask questions to current students and network.

Hope this helps to those of you who were a little uneasy with the status change (including me).

Hey drUNC! Thanks!! 🙂
yeah..what I heard was that they will have the first meeting in Dec if I remember it right. Sorry y'll about me overreacting to the status change if I made you worried..🙄

ok..now, just realized they changed it again, the wording on "Status Defined" makes sense. 🙂

You should definitely go to the social event the night before (there's free pizza!). None of the students make admissions decisions (mostly it's first years) and it's a great chance to ask questions and hang out with some current students. Plus you'll meet some of the current applicants you'll be touring the school with/going to finaid meetings with/hanging out between interviews with the next day. And did I mention there's free pizza?

Oh, and for the nervous: Dress code is casual. No business attire. 🙂

DGDDS is absolutely correct on all counts. I've been to the pre-interview-day-pizza-feast once or twice, and no adcom member cares at all what I thought of the people that I've met. I'll be wearing jeans and a t-shirt.

It's just an informal opportunity to get unofficial answers to questions you may have. I look forward to meeting you all.

Sarah Bellum is your name Sarah? Looking forward to meeting you at the pizza social!
