My first interview invite from one of my top choices!!
I know it's too early to be too happy about it...But...man...it feels good~

Oh I love this school. I have friends there (D1 to D4). I live in Raleigh but I study with them a lot. I am going to chapel hill, my best friend house(D3), this friday for a community service project we've been working on lately. But it seems like there will be another thing I need to work on with my friend!!

Can I pm you and ask some questions about your interview experience at UNC-SOD?

aw man, i got the invite too, but i have an interview on Oct 10th! that i already have airfare too! and the other date they mention? Nov 15? I have an interview (with airfare!) on that weekend too! i guess if i want to check it out, i'll have to wait until january 🙁

Received the e-mail today too. I'm just as excited as you are! I have to call up in the morning to confirm the Oct 11th date as I received the e-mail around dinner time today.

it's good that you already got several interviews, but bad that those dates are overlapping.. I think you really need think carefully about your situation there bc as you already know from the email they sent us, they said **Please note that if you are unable to attend this interview session
your file will go back in to the complete status file and you may or may
not get pulled again for our next interview dates schedule for November
15, 2008 and January 10, 2009.**

Just out of curious..what are those 2 schools you would be attending over UNC interview??

so, you got an interview before they actually received your supp.
I quess then they don't really care about the supps when they invite interviews. But I heard the supp is very important, so it might be a huge factor for your interview score??? Maybe...

yea, i hear you, i know i shouldn't be complaining about having TOO many interviews and everything, but i just don't want to close any doors if i don't have to, you know? i've heard great things about UNC and I was looking forward to checking it out - and it seems like it would be really fun to live in that part of the country. Plus, I spent a lot of time on their secondary and sent them a hefty check (which they haven't cashed yet, by the way?).

my other two interviews are harvard (Oct 10) and UCSF (Nov 17). I wish UNC would have told me earlier... b/c harvard let's you pick pretty much any Thurs/Fri you want. I guess i'll just have to wait until january.

Good lord!! Harvard and UCSF! man..I mean without even checking your stats, I don't think there would be any problems you wouldn't get pulled again for the next interview dates at UNC. Don't worry about it, you will be just fine I think. GL on your interviews!! 🙂

Just called UNC. The lady told me they are going to send out the general
information package this Friday. So, confirming your spot before Friday would be a good idea I think!

I agree 150%... this past weekend was a phenomenal experience for me too. I'm willing to bet that UNC will shoot to the top of most of your lists after you interview there (if it's not there already)!

Questions about the social function the night before!

I am planning to go there on friday the 10th. Anyone else coming? and if you are, would you be in your suit? or you think it's okay to wear whatever that makes you comfortable (of course no sweat pants with flipflops, I mean do you think jeans with sneakers would be okay)?

And if you already attended that social meeting in sep, it would be great if you tell us what you saw there!

There was actually a mix of what people were wearing. The dental students themselves were in T-shirts and scrubs for the most part. The applicants were wearing anything from shirt and tie to jeans and a polo....it is really informal and has NO effects on your chances of admission. Good Luck👍

For all of you who have interviews coming up for UNC, I would HIGHLY recommend going to the social event the night before.

As TarHeelKid said, it has no bearing whatsoever on your chances, and I thought it was really great to have the chance to speak not only to current UNC students, but also to the other applicants. It definitely made D-day (i.e. interview day, lol) a much more relaxed experience - at least for me.

And wear whatever you want... I'd recommend a nice pair of jeans/khakis and a button-up shirt or polo for guys... Girls always know how to dress well, so I can't give you too much advice there 😉

I'd also suggest coming to the pizza get-together the night before. It's a chance to meet students entirely off the record. I enjoyed meeting several of you last weekend.

I got a phone call today inviting me to interview on October 11th. There's a problem, though. I'm interviewing @ UF the day before (10th) and won't be done there till about 3pm-ish. I asked UNC if I could reschedule, but they told me that there may be a chance that I won't be invited again for an interview. So, I manned up and decided that I'm driving to Orlando directly after my UF interview, and catching a couple flights to Raleigh. I then have to rent a car and check in my hotel to finally get about 3 hours of sleep before my interview @ UNC. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make the social the night before. But, w/e... I got the interview, which is what's important. 😀

Yeah, I received a call from Ms. Carolyn Oakes while I was @ work. It caught me totally off guard. I wish I could have a later interview date, but I didn't want to take the risk of not being invited again later (I'm an out-of-state applicant.). I've only heard great things about the school, so I'm really looking forward to the interview. GL to you, too.

I won't be at the pizza gig. I'll be rocking out with the Mountain Goats and Kaki King at the Cat's Cradle. I haven't decided if I'll be up to giving tours the next morning.
