Hey
I just learned today that I got into UNC- Chapel Hill's MED Program. Has anyone here ever done it, or know someone who did? How did you like it? What was the schedule like? How much did it help you in school/ medical school?
Thanks.

Well thanks for the advice celltech. The Director of Recruitment from UNC School of Dentistry came to my school the other day, and I ran into him. I told him that I had gotten in, and he said, "Get ready for 9 weeks of hell."
Umm..... is it really that bad?
Also, did you apply to UNC for medical school?
Hey! I just applied to the MED program. I saw that you did this program couple of years ago. I wanted to know if I can get a feedback from you about the program? Also do they use email or mail to notify you if you got accepted or not?
Thank you
Hi,
I found out yesterday that I was accepted to the MED program. I am excited and a little nervous at the same time. I have a few questions about taking the MCAT after MED. I hear good things and bad things about it. The bad thing is that if you are not ready and not scoring well on practice tests and rush to take it, you may not do well and it can hurt you. If you take it afterwards, you will not have time to study for it during MED and you will be so burned out from the program. But I think they are gearing towards the last 3 weeks of the program focusing on MCAT/DAT prep, I don't know yet. Any advice is greatly appreciated, and tips on doing well in the program.

Lol! I have to say that his statement is accurate to my experience. That being said it was a great experience that I was fortunate to have. As someone else said, it requires a lot of stamina and you won't have much time for anything else while doing the program. Hit the ground running and DO NOT fall behind. If you fall behind it will be very difficult to catch up.
As for studying for MCAT/DAT simultaneously with MED, I haven't met a person yet that said they had time to do both, so be ready to do either or. Personally I think if you choose to do the MED program then your first priority should be to do well in the program. You can always study for exam later or before. If you absolutely have to study during the months you will do MED, then my advice to you is to not even bother with the MED program. You will not have time to do both (or at least I didn't and the rest of my class didn't) so make your decision now as to what you want to do for the summer.
Congratulations on your acceptance and I hope you do well ^_^
Isn't MCAT prep a part of the program? I can understand them wanting to focus on medical school simulation but I would also think they would want to help you prepare for the MCAT as well.
I havent seen any. I was wondering what was going to be in the dorm like microwaves, fridges on the floor or anything? I wasnt really trying to buy breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day.Have they sent out any more paperwork or e-mails since the first round of paperwork was due on the 6th?
