Hello all!

Question number 15 asks..

15) Please comment on your performance on the DAT

what kind of comment have you or would you given/give?
I answered that question like this: Ive taken DAT twice so i just commented how i have improved on my scores. I listed all the individual break down of my first DAT scores and my last DAT scores. And I also commented on why did i think i improved on my scores, like what helped me on improving my scores.

But if you only took the DAT once than you can talk about your individual section scores and how you feel you did and what helped you study for the DAT and how that reflected in your scores. GOOD LUCK 🙂

THank you very much T for Teeth!!
That's a great idea how I could answer that question. Thank you so much. I took DAT once, with OK-average(22) with very-low-RC (17). I wasn't sure if I should mention why kept me from having a good RC score.. (or just not mention it at all )

If you don't mind... could you give me little help on the other question "comment on the performance of your college courses"? :luck::luck:

thanks!!!

You are welcome 🙂 Sure no problem. For that question i answered like this: i wrote abou couple of classes that i didnt do so hot in and couple of classes that i did excellent in. Mentioned some classes that i really enjoyed and enjoyed studying for. For example, I got an A+ in organic chemistry, so i mentioned that and how i loved orgo and it made sense to me. I also followed it up with saying that i loved orgo so much that i became a Teachers assistant for orgo class. Then i also mentioned the class that i received a C in.
What are the classes that stood out to you, how hard were they, how interesting were they, how much did you study. Do you see what im saying???

I felt that UNC's whole application process for very psychological. From the supplemental to the faculty interviews I was hit with odd questions exploring the way I was programed. I know they want to see how you handle failure. Do you freak, work harder, accept it, refuse to accept it, etc... Having been in dental school for a couple years I can help you all answer that question. ACCEPT IT. It happens. You don't need to work harder as a result, just learn from it. In the clinic, you may screw up a prep. Fix it anyway possible and move on. You may fail a test. Oh well, learn from your mistakes and study better next time. They don't want anxious perfectionists. They want down to earth, confident students. So don't go babbling about how that 18 in RC is not acceptable and you wish you did better. Just say you had a good grasp on the information as a whole and just slipped up in whatever section.

Hello Tooth Pulp. Your post was like a new enlightenment to me 👍 Thank you for help! I am so glad I decided to submit my e-supplimentary on Monday. hehehehe

I went to UNC undergraduate, but never had so much chance to tour UNC dental school. Do you mind if I ask you another question? As a second year in UNC, what do you think distinguishes UNC dental school the most from other dental schools? / what do you not like about UNC dental school?

thank you!!! 😳

I actually chose not to attend UNC. Pretty school, great reputation, and great faculty, but wasn't for me. It was the only school that didn't act like it cared if I came or not. They were too busy boasting about their school explaining how hard it was to get in. Also asked me some silly questions in the interview that just turned me away. Students are happy there though and it is a great school, so I don't mean to discredit it. A friend of mine in my class was also accepted there and declined for the same reason and actually spoke to the dean of admissions about it. He (dean of admissions) said, "That's a huge problem and it will be addressed". This was several years ago so it may have changed.

Hi Tooth Pulp! thank you for your kind reply👍 hmm I would have such a problem if that had happened to me too! you expect something more than that when you go into an interview...

Sorry for keep asking questions, but other than actually being able to talk to someone who has experience (like you), how can I know or what can I say to the question when school asks me "why do you like our school"? Only resource I have is internet and this.. Did you usually talk about the academic programs they have online? or summer programs you can take? just wonder what aspects I should care and mention realistically?

thank you!
