unc, uva?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
oh, and while i'm asking...i'm wondering if i should give up the mstp dream or not,...haven't heard yet from boston u, columbia, harvard, johns hopkins, northwestern, stanford, ucla, and of course uva & unc. i interviewed at two schools, but got rejections from six, and one (ucsf) hasn't sent me a secondary yet, which i take as a bad sign. plus, i get the sense that if the schools don't like you A WHOLE LOT, they might string you along for a while and send out rejections later...how late do these places interview? at any rate, i have a similar situation to i think immunoANT - for no apparent reason my amcas was completely finished in october at many schools although i finished it in august.

<sigh, twiddling thumbs> any insight would be absolutely appreciated.

To Strangeattractor:
When did you finish your secondary? And more importantly, when was your applicated considered completed by schools? I finished mine about 3 weeks ago. And for two schools you mentioned (NW and UCLA), I received interview invitation last week. Again, for these two schools, I had to call the admissions office twice to have them put together all the materials (so my appl is completed). Sometimes your rec letters may be misplaced, which may cause a delay. I suggest you call the office for that. They usually have reviews every monday or tuesday and give out invitations on Wednesday or Thursday.
And, hang in there. we'll all get there. 🙂 🙂 🙂

By the way, Strangeattractor, are you a fan for the chaos theory? I read a book talking about the whole chaos story. Quite interesting, especially when they talk about how Edward Lorenz, strange attractors, and that butterfly theory. One thing I learn is to not rely on the 5-day weather forecast; forecast for the next day may be accurate but weather after that is simply impossible to predict.

thanks for the support immunoANT. my stuff was completed at different times by everybody but on average, everything was considered done a month ago...which is why i am starting to worry. oh well. you get what you get and you don't get upset!

and yes, that's where my name came from. huge chaos fan. 😍 "a strange attractor" is the same thing as a "lorenz attractor," - NOT me trying to attest to how weird and attractive i am. 😀 one thing also to learn is that not only is the weather seemingly unpredictible (the actual chaos theory is that a chaotic system appears unpredictable but is actually deterministic - i.e. explainable by a set of equations or expressions...however i am by no means a chaos expert so i might be a little off on any of this), but lots of stuff in the body exhibits chaotic behavior. theory goes that brain waves are necessarily chaotic rather than simple harmonic oscillations - such as in the heart - in order for us to be creative and make interesting brain connections when faced with new dilemmas.

anyhow, i digress. hope all is well so far with you with this hellish process and thanks again.
