Hey! Have been fortunate to be accepted to these three schools, and am waiting to hear back from OUWB likely this or the following week. I'm heavily leaning towards UNC (instate) because I was in the area for undergrad and have a strong social network there, it is definitively the best ranking and has great rotations/residency/research opportunities. However, I really enjoyed GW's interview and the access students have to health policy, and DC seems like a great place to live compared to just staying in small-town chapel hill. ECU is at the bottom of my list because I cannot see myself being happy living in that area, and although it is incredibly cheap (50k a year total CoA), the 22k difference is not enough for me to choose ECU over UNC.

Financial aid packages will be a major consideration in this decision (EFC is 0, low-income student so hopefully need-based funding comes through). Does anyone have experience trying to leverage ECU's 22k cheaper CoA for a scholarship at UNC? GW is private and much more expensive so they may provide some funding, could that be used as leverage even if the total CoA remains higher? Thanks so much! Just trying to plan for the next few months and have heard some success stories of utilizing multiple acceptances.

You can always ask politely in an e-mail to see what happens. I would guess that UNC won’t match though. GW may offer a scholarship but it’ll need to be a big one.

I’m recommending UNC currently for you.

Second this. UNC has a much stronger rep than these schools. Throw in the cost and it’s a no brainer. Congrats on having options, though I wouldn’t over think it.

Bias: WL at GW R at UNC.

I would say UNC. In state tuition, strong ties, and ranked higher than both institutions.

I think the UNC name/prestige will definitely allow you to become involved in health policy at some point should you want to, although GW location is admittedly better. You could maybe do a summer internship between M1 and M2 years in DC if you do end up choosing UNC!
