Hi,

I am currently a student at NCSU. I am on the predental track. I was recently accepted as a sophomore transfer to UNC Chapel Hill. I finished my first year at NCSU with a 3.8 GPA and made all As and one B in physics. I need help in deciding whether I should transfer to UNC. UNC is the better national ranked school and some of my family wants me to go there.

I am worried about transferring and failing at UNC because of the tough chemistry department. I made an A in CH 101 at NCSU but might need to another intro chemistry at UNC because their intro chem is a two part class. I also still have to take organic. The classes at NCSU are fairly simple and straightforward at this point. I am in fear of competing with all the Pre-health kids at UNC and failing Chem courses at UNC.

UNC is also a 30 minute drive away from home while NCSU is only 15 minutes. UNC is also a few grand more expensive.

Please offer some advice!

Stay where you are. Dental schools care way more about GPA than the school you went to. You are doing well at your current University and it's cheaper. I'm sure UNC dental school will like you even if you don't do your undergrad at UNC if you keep your GPA up.

i would just stay at NCSU. better to get good grades at a "not as good school" then struggle at a "better" school. Plus location and savings. The basketball team isn't as good but i guess you gotta make some sacrifices.
