Here is my situation. I graduated highschool with GPA 3.8 and went to a small private university. I comlpeted 3 semesters there before I had a mental breakdown and had to take almost a year off to get well again. In my time off I completed an EMT program, I still have to take the NREMT exam and then find a job. However, it is still my life-long dream to be a doctor. (No one in my family is but I used to volunteer in the ER and after seeing all the diferent roles I know in my heart of hearts I won't be able to stop until I make it to becoming an MD).
So, I am starting school again in the spring, I will be taking 2 classes and working part time as an ER-tech. Having worked with a few paramedics though I realize that I like that prospect as well. So I can stick with EMT and finish school, take MCATs and apply to med school or I can do EMT then Paramedic (while slowly finishing school) and then hopefully med school.
I guess what's coming up are my doubts about being able to get through the rest of my undergrad with a good enough GPA and high enough MCAT for medschool...
Any advice or input appreciated.

if you want to maintain a high gpa then i hope you exclusively focus on your studies instead of work. yes; i know that probably work is necessary to support yourself and also to pay for school and other necessities, but a lot of times i have known friends who multi-tasked and ended up not pulling off good grades.

so my advice to you is make sure school as your #1 priority and study hard. make work as a part-time if all possible. it's important to take one step at a time. if you can keep up a high gpa then i believe you will be fine studying for the mcat 🙂 good luck!
