I just wanted to throw it out there for the people applying with low DAT scores. I had a 17 AA 18 TS 21 PAT (lowest scores 16 GC, 15 QR) , got 4 pre-dec interviews, 2 acceptaces on Dec 1st. The DAT isn't everything, they want well-rounded people!! Good luck on your applications or DAT test!

That's great that you got in with a 17AA, and I agree, admissions look for well rounded people. Athletics help too (I saw you did track & field). But for those with scores under 18AA who are reading this, retake the exam.

If you can't score higher than a 17 AA, then yea, you don't need to lose hope. I met a couple people with 16's at my interviews. But don't settle with a 17AA. I know that's not what the OP is saying, but I just wanted to reiterate that.

Also, Slacker24, your situation seems fairly unique. I saw you took the MCAT too and were looking at medical schools. And didn't you take the Canadian DAT, or are you from Canada and took the American DAT?

and my bad score was a 16 in Chem ... but I got a 21 in Bio so the TS was 19
Haha, I mean 16 AA! A 16 in one section probably happens a lot. Your overall scores look perfectly fine. It's really up to you if you want to re take. A 16 is a red flag, but I am not sure to what extant. The fact you still made a 20 AA with that 16 in chemistry is pretty solid. My only concern about writing them a letter is they may just tell you to take it again; if you say something caused the 16. That sounds like you know you could do better, so they may want you to prove it. I really think your scores are fine. Chemistry is a section that can overwhelm you really quickly if you lose track of time or lose your concentration. If you think you can do better, try the DAT again. Because if you do better, you will be incredibly relieved that you put the time and effort into retaking. If you don't re-take, your scores are good enough to get in, but you will be constantly thinking about that 16 and if it is holding you back.

Ok thanks for you input, really that was helpful ! I guess I just got the wrong impression maybe from this forum-- just seems like the Canadians need to have higher scores to compete with you guys..

I applied last year with a 17AA/18TS/20PAT and a 3.3 GPA. 0 interviews.

I am applying again this year.

I think they want well rounded people with good DAT scores and a high GPA.

What's considered good DAT and high GPA? I'm trying to keep hope alive with my 19AA, 19TS, 21PAT. I'm not sure what my GPA is until AADSAS does its thing. Bio degree is cGPA 3.4, sGPA 3.2-3.3. DH degree is cGPA 3.7, sGPA 3.7. I've read that these GPAs will be put together somehow, and all of DH is "other science." So, I'm really not sure what to expect with the GPAs.
