I just got my second underage arrest for being in a club w/o a proper ID (21 yrs). I wasn't even drinking! I know it was stupid. I am on the deans list for last semester and have a 3.6 and want to get into Pharm school. I am in a pharm club too. Do Pharm schools look at these things? Am I screwed? Any advice would be helpful. I am going to change my going out habits. I just hope it's not too late.
(currently getting an A in Organic Chem too)

Dave

You might have better luck in the pre-pharm forum. While non-trad is welcome to more than just pre-meds, pre-meds predominate.

I can move the thread to pre-pharm if you like.

I have no idea how this is going to affect your education*, but seriously, you've got no one to blame but yourself.

*We're you charged, do you have a criminal record etc? if so it might affect your education.

Did you get caught using a fake ID or simply slip in unquestioned? I'm not sure about educational institutions, but afterwards you will have a hell of a time finding a job with a criminal record.

Yes, I'm having a hard time understanding how you got arrested the second time for not having a proper ID if you weren't even drinking? Who goes to clubs without an ID, especially if they are 21? Must have been doing something else that's illegal? I'm sorry, I won't be judgmental. Yes, they do look at your criminal record, it's one of the first papers you sign. And yes, it will definitely be a problem unless you can provide evidence that it was a mistake on the law side and you are totally innocent.

Who gets caught period? Lol. I'm under 21 but I've been at parties with a weed bar, huge beer kegs, mango "juice" (except it was spiked with a ton of vodka) and police come but no one actually gets arrested lmao.

Anyway my advice is this: No, pharm schools won't look at your criminal past while you apply. I.E. you can get an interview, even get the letter in the mail that you're accepted...but then they do a background check and thats where they may rescind your acceptance....I don't think it's personally a big deal, however, pharmacists do deal with criminals who use fake IDs and prescriptions and they are requested to uphold the highest level of the law, so you may run into some trouble...see if you can get it expunged...hire a lawyer if you have the $$. Good luck Mr. Smith!

Like Ma always said, "Dont do dumb things."

The underage drinking will most likely not be a problem. People who have been arrested for possession or had DUIs have been accepted (some people on this forum, in fact). The important thing is to disclose that information when it becomes necessary to do so. Some supplementals will specifically ask if you have ever been convicted of a crime- I know Colorado asks this question. You will also need to keep all of your court documents/citation/whatever because they will want it (at least that is what it states on the supplemental). I believe Midwestern asked about convictions as well. I am sure there are others. Somewhere I saw a list of crimes that preclude you from obtaining a license. This may vary by state but most of the crimes that are a "problem" involve crimes against others: assault, crimes against children, homicide, etc.. EDIT: and of course being an (illegal) drug dealer.

seriously, what is mango juice?

Haha iono how they made it but it had a lot of vodka in it. Have you ever had regular mango juice? Like peach juice with vodka. It's like flavored vodka..except with more of a "juice" base..I don't know, I don't mix the drinks bro 😛

But some girl might mix your drink at a party when you're not looking.

That's all I'm gonna say about that statement

I thought most places did background checks before interviewing and/or accepting an applicant.

If the state board does FBI background checks, wouldn't it show up?

I believe most forms ask if you have had anything expunged.

Just fess up d00d. Take some personal responsibility here! Explain yourself when the time comes. It isn't like you murdered someone.

Who said I drink? I'm not a drinker 😛 I guess for my state school they don't do background checks prior to interviewing and thats what I was basing my information on so I guess it depends on the school.

If you have a squeaky clean record, minus the underage "clubbing/drinking" conviction/charge then you should be fine. Trust me on this... I know a few people who have been accepted to schools with similar issues, and as long as you don't lie about it on the application then you should be fine. Don't make excuses, just admit you made a mistake and how you've taken steps to correct it, and hope for the best.

How is being in a club without ID a crime? You can't get in without an ID, right? Managements fault, not yours. Unless they have reason to believe you committed a crime, you have no reason to have an ID on you. This isn't Russia.

I hope you didn't plea guilty.

Dave, I wouldn’t be too concerned, although there is some reason to be. I had a couple "infractions" myself but got into 3 schools, one being a top ten school.

Just be up front and honest with the schools. While some schools have certain guidelines they must follow with their applicants criminal histories, the best thing you can do is let them know about anything that has happened before they find out themselves. If you can convince them that your intentions/aspirations are for the best they have no reason to deny you the chance to do what you want to with your life.

Hopefully this is an answer you were looking for rather than people passing judgment...cough cough
