it depends. if it was campus security and its on your transcript then yes the DS will know.

if its from the real police, then no the school won't know during the application process, however they will know once they do a background check on you.

Withholding it from your application and having it later come up on a background check will SERIOUSLY hurt your application.

nah it wasn't through campus security. i was told that it won't show up on a criminal background check bc it's not even a misdemeanor...it's along the same lines as a speeding ticket

then why did you ask the question in the first place.

I had a great interview where at least a third of it consisted of talking about underage drinking and how the current laws are BS. If anything, look at it as a characteristic that makes you stand out. It shows you enjoy having fun and don't study 24/7.

*The topic came up because I had an underage charge on my record.

University Park, eh?

Si. You too?

No. I really wish I went there, though. This year you guys are amazing and dominating football. Plus, who doesn't love the E. coast?

It shouldn't show up on a criminal record, because it is a petty misdemenor. It could show up on your school "record" or transcript, but each school is different. If the school found out about it and you received disciplinary action (like I did!) you need to make sure you put "YES" when asked if you've been found to violate an honor code, etc on AADSAS. I don't think it'll effect your chances though. I've had 2 similar incidents, but I've received interviews at 3 out of the 4 schools I applied to.

Good luck and party on!!! haha 🙂

Honest is the best policy. They will admire your honesty. It is not like you were performing ::::: for crack. Just tell them to be on the safe side (if they ask) and they will respect that. 90% of people have drank underage. No biggie.

Check the county courthouse website where you were busted. Unless you got it expunged you'l prolly find the record. No big deal though, just don't try to cover it up.

you can usually do a docket search of your name and ssn

really no one??

lots of people drink underage, but I don't think that many people get caught, particularly within our paranoid pre-dental sample group 😛

simple solution: don't drink underage. it's illegal and ridiculously unnecessary.

stupidity comes with a price.

although some of us prefer to have some fun once and a awhile- just be smart about it, don't get caught 😉

However, if you do it doesn't play a huge role- i have a friend who had three underage drinking tickets and still got in

Get off the high horse. Everyone has drank in college or High School or w/e when they were underage. You just dont hear about it because they dont get busted. You trying to tell me that you never tasted alcohol until you were 21. Thats just plain wierd.

Wasn't trying to insult you I was just a little incredulous. I was under the im pression that at one point or another every single American student had a drink or 2 while in college. I guess I was mistaken. There is nothing wrong with not drinking I just didnt think there was such a thing.

Never met a Mormon? I could see how you can assume that the majority of students have had a drink, but it's a little silly to think that every single student has. In fact, purge any opinion from your mind that includes "every single" in front of any category of people.

I agree ranelar- also can we purge the notion that "every single" student who has had a drink underage is stupid as was implied earlier by RAK?

And RAK have you honestly never broken a law? Ever sped? Ran a rolling stop through a stop sign? I really don't like it when people try to pass judgement on other people for minor mistakes.

Well in my religion, a little wine is part of many blessings, so yes, I'm perfectly fine purging that notion as well 😛

wasn't passing judgment at all... being one of the only people i know that doesn't drink, i've learned not to pass judgement... how do you think i've survived college? lol.

illinois is simply a zero tolerance state for underage drinking.... just where i live and the laws around me....

haha fair enough 🙂 I'm from Iowa and our laws can be pretty strict too especially at a public school, (I have friends at private schools who hardly get into any trouble if they get caught on campus)- and i definitely know people who went until they were 21 before they drank, i just also know some people who look down upon people who make different choices than they do.

Im in NY and the oplace is so busy and happennig that underage drinkng is barely illegal. I have never heard of someone getting in trouble for drinking here in NY because there are so many mor terrible cimes that the cops are trying to stop. Seling to minors will get you in some trouble but just drinking is not really noticed unless there is a car accident or something.
