i got the MCW rejection too

I love how schools let rejections pile up and mail them en masse.

Any word from Jeff or Drexel dogs?

No word from Drexel here. Yet.

crys, we interviewed the same day at DMU! I got the weird interview group that everyone hated - very odd interview. Waitlisted there.

I got my rejection from Drexel on Saturday, snail-mail, in-state, pre-interview.

Waiting for 7 schools still: Sinai, NYMC, Jefferson, Emory, Rush, Loyola, and Boston. Any other dogs heard from these schools one way or another?

hey guys who were rejected from MCW....would you mind telling me when you were complete and then when you got that miserable letter. i havent heard a peep from them since I have been complete and i am just waiting to get the bad news. (considering i never got that weirdo vauge email that many people received)....just wondering about a time frame so that i can prepare myself....

i feel that i am the strangest underdog...many people have lower GPAs here but high MCATS to compensate. I however, have a 4.0 but a 26N ( i took that damn test three times and got the SAME score every time....i guess some people really arent good at those things.) but i have 2 rejections and 2 interviews and a lot of silence. this process is miserable

I'm glad I finally found the underdogs thread. I've got good MCAT scores (34R) but not so great gpa (3.3, but 3.7 the last 3 years, inclu one year post bacc). I've had interviews at GWU, Pitt and Case (I work at Case and got a letter of rec from a faculty member at Pitt). Case put my on their hold/wait list. Haven't heard from the others yet. Rejected preinterview at Gtown (big surprise) and pre-secondary at WIsconsin (my undergrad school). Interviews upcoming at Drexel and VCU. Applied to BU, Tufts, Ohio St (in state res), Loyola, Rosalind Franklin, Temple, Cincy and Northwester and haven't heard from them yet (other than that my apps are complete and checks cashed).

I was complete at MCW in early august...can't seem to find the exact date, but it was around the 8th i think. I got my rejection from them on 10/17.

i got rejections from both wisconsin schools and both letters at least hinted at the fact that not having wisconsin residency was a factor in the decision. university of wisconsin actually directly said exactly that, that they thanked me for applying but they reserve almost all spaces for in-staters. so, if you're a wisconsin resident, you should be in better shape than i was...

jbrice....even BETTER news..i am an Okie. i have found that i am getting more cynical by the minute (and by the POST).

eh...that probably won't hurt you as much as being from illinois hurt me...there's 7 med schools in my state...six of which are less than 30 minutes from my house...so i'm sure that my application at mcw wasn't looked too favorably upon.

however, cynicism is the mantra of sdn... :meanie:

Is it too late to join the underdogs? Decent GPA, low MCAT. Glad to know I'm not alone, though!

Mirrors my MCW experience.

Boston rejections are out... 6 more unanswered, 1 interview left...

congrats congrats to all!!!! this is the best thread ever i tell you because we are proof that sdn isn't always the most misrepresentative group of premeds out there! i found this site when i was a college freshman and i, too, got swept up into this myth that you HAVE to have flawless grades, great mcat, etc to even stand a chance. this is crap, people!! 3 Cs, a D, no retakes, an 8 in the PS of the mcat and my cycle has gone sooo well so far, honestly if you want it, it can be done 🙂 good luck to all still waiting, plentyyy of time yet

fellow underdog, 3.3 gpa, 24mcat, 1acceptance 10+interviews...there still is hope for all!

But since I'm lazy to find out what page etc... I will repost!

I'm an underdog and about 3 months prior no hope what so ever!

Stats:

UG
BCPM= 3.1
Overall = 3.21

Grad
BCPM= 3.5
Overall= 3.52

MCAT Scores (shivers) took it 3X

19M, 23M, 27Q

Interviews: UofA, Rush, UCLA/UCR, Touro-MI, Touro-NV, MidWestern...
Acceptances: Touro-NV

I hope someone here at SDN will get inspired... it can be done! :luck:

(NOTE: my MDapps profile hasn't been started/updated... sorry...)

What about me? Think I still have a shot????

I'm a low Gpa man, but with good mcats -
UG: 3.3 / BCPM: 3.0
Grad: BCPM: 3.0
More Grad Classes (2, this past semester): Bcpm: 4.0

MCATS - 1st time: 29s, Second time: 32P

As of yet - no interviews, 4 rejections

Hey Batmaan21,

What schools are you still waiting on? I'm in the same boat as you: 3 rejects, no interviews and pretty similar stats.

UG: 3.2 / BCPM: 3.2
Post-bacc: 4.0

MCATS - 1st time: 29N, Second time: 33P

the usual - albany, drexel, penn state, etc......

Jocks, I don't understand something - I see all these profiles of people with like 3.1/2.8s, with 30s, getting several interviews, a couple of acceptances....nothing against those people - im glad for them!! but, why are we getting nothing?

3.23 GPA, 29 MCAT, but great ECs. ONE allo interview at VCU, no love from my state school, no love from Drexel, Albany, Temple, UVM, etc. But I'm old. Buncha DO interviews.

It's all a crap shoot. Did you both apply early? Early was SOOO key to my one interview.

Ugrad GPA: 2.4
Grad GPA: 3.6
MCAT: 31S (2002), 36R (2004)
Interviews: CU (2004,2005)
Great ECs

I also want to know this - am I applying to the wrong schools, or what?

I think it has a lot to do with your grad GPA. What area was it in? I think ADCOMS assume that if you dont do well in undergrad, you will do better in grad school/post-bac program. A 3.0 grad GPA is on the low end. You do have a nice MCAT score though, so I can only think that the GPA is preventing you from getting interviews.

Good luck though. I hope you hear from schools soon! 🙂

Extreme Underdog Here:

Undergrad GPA: 2.95
Grad GPA: TBA (we'll see in May when it comes out)
MCAT: 23Q, 25P

Interview invites: UMDNJ-SOM, PCOM-GA, Meharry
Accepted to: Meharry Medical College

Always have hope!!! Anything is possible!

I'm in the same boat... 3.4 GPA and 32 MCAT... tons of EC's and good LOR's.. but still no acceptances... i realized too late that i did not apply to a wide enough range of schools... all my schools were high and middle tieredchools... and well... i'm finding out the hard way with 7 rejections and silence from the rest that my stats just aren't competitive enough...

I'm still waiting for one of those great underdog success stories to happen to me. I can't believe what i nightmare this whole process has been. At my one and only interview my second interviewer refused to answer my questions because he thought that because of my mcat score, i was unable to handle the rigor of their program. *sigh* and that i should have even been asking questions of him regarding their special research activities. He didn't even look at anything other than me mcat, he had it written down with my name on a piece of paper. anyway. here's my story so far...

GPA overall : 3.9
GAP science: 3.9
1 yr. volunteer at childrens hospital, 4 years biochem research (presentations and independent research), chemistry and biochem tutor 4 years, home care volunteer for elderly woman, published fiction writer
MCAT: 28S <--- booooo hissssss

so my mcat is obviously making me an underdog, although plenty of people seem to be doing well , much better than me, with less, so i don't know what up. sad 🙁

I had 1 interview (above) and all rejections, otherwise, and i applied to a TON of schools, many of them lower tier and middle tier (i applied to mayo for fun since i worked for them one summer as a research person, but didn't make it past the phone interview, and did develop mass amounts of false hope). only one school left to hear from. need some loving.

Hey omgwtfbbq - cheer up. I'm sorry your interviewer was such an a-hole. 28 isnt a bad mcat score, considering you have a great GPA. Did you apply early? Well, if your dream is to become a doctor, you'll achieve it. If it's not this year, just reapply. Wish you the best of luck.

hey, where are you guys all residents from? i have a theory that the upper east coast residents and california residents do better especially with schools like drexel(and other philly schools), albany, penn state, nyu, boston schools, of course all the njms's...

i'm in a similar boat as you guys.

I'm still waiting for UVM, nymc, rfu, jefferson, etc.
So how about this, we list our stats AND file completion time:

UG: 3.2 / BCPM: 3.2
Post-bacc: 4.0
MCATS - 1st time: 29N, Second time: 33P
Applications Complete: Dec. '05

Best of luck to those of you still waiting. I still haven't heard from 7 schools! Of course Emory will sent out a massive rejection spam fairly soon.

Oh, omgwtfbbq, you've got great numbers, unless your MCAT is highly skewed, like 13, 13, 2 - Keep the faith.

Batmann..You have to pay attention to ethnicity alot of times. If it seems like someone is having a cycle that is too good to be true, check out the race slot. It often helps to explain what helped give someone an extra edge.

No arguments here, I'm all for AA, just stating the facts! 🙂 Check my link if you want to see a ditsy white girl's good fortune. 🙂

👍 Yeah for this thread!!!

I'm an underdog.

I'm a non-trad.

I will be applying for class of 2011 so this is encouraging to see the accepted stats of all..

My GPA wasn't so bad until I came back this semester to finish my pre-reqs...
It's hard to come back to school, kids. I'm more motiviated to learn than I was in undergrad (rather than cramming it in to just get a good grade)but the test scores, so far, don't show that!!!

another stressed out/anxious underdog checking in!

Underdogs applying for 2007!!! - this seems to be the biggest mistake applicants think they have made.

Bump for waitlist movement and recent acceptances!
