Undergrad Classes taken during Masters -> count in UndergradGPA?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Would they prevent you to take an extra undergrad class THAT doesnt count towrds your masters and a class you don't really need, but only retaking it/doing it for boosting your uGPA?
it's possible. some programs state that you aren't to have any other jobs or commitments other than your graduate education. a lot of people don't adhere to this.

i think you'd be ok taking 1 or 2 more classes. keep in mind that graduate courses are a lot more difficult and time consuming than regular classes, so taking 15-18 hours, most of which are graduate classes, is equivalent of probably 23-25 regular course hours. if you have research in addition to that many classes, you're going to have no time left for anything.

I'm in a grad program currently, and took much of my undergrad bio, ochem, etc, while being a grad student since i didn't complete those classes during my undergrad.

AMCAS classified those undergraduate classes that did not count towards my masters degree (freshman bio, ochem, etc) as Post-bacc/undergrad and it counted towards my undergrad GPA.

I classifed all my graduate years as "graduate" and they switched some of them to post-bacc/undergrad. I had to appeal a few of them stating that they directly apply towards completion of the degree.

so you didnt have any problem with taking undergrad classes during grad school and those undergrad classes being reported as part of your postbac/undergrad GPA?

Sorry for the late response.

No, actually AMCAS was more apt to lump most of my classes into the post/bacc undergrad category even if they were technically part of my grad program. It just took me appealing their classification, specifying the units that applied to the masters degree. (There are a chunk of senior level engineering classes that count towards my Masters, even though they techinically are "undergraduate" because they are senior level.)

Here's my take on it:
If you are in a masters program, and your school allows you to take extra coursework in addition to your graduate work, then AMCAS will classify any undergraduate classes that do not count towards your Masters as post-bacc/undergrad, and that will be used in the calculation of your undergradute GPA. At least, that's how they did mine.

Anyway, good luck. :luck:

Oh, and my personal experience is that graduate classes are far more interesting and stimulating than undergraduate. I typically ended up having to devote more time to the lower division science classess because those are 'weeder' courses and they make you jump through all sorts of hoops that aren't issues in graduate classess.
