On some of my interviews I talked to a bunch of fellow interviewees that already had accumulated 150k+ of debt from school. How much debt will you graduate with from undergrad alone? (and tell us where you attend/ed if you feel so inclined)

As a side note, for those that chose the medical school path during undergrad, had you known that you wanted to go to medical school from the get go, would you still have chosen to attend the same undergrad institution or would you have gone to a more cost efficient school?

I go to BYU and between my wife and I we will only end up graduating with about $5,000 of debt.

I think Im at about 45k! Ugh! Oh well You Have to Pay the Cost to Be the BOSS! LOL

I went to a state school (UC Berkeley) and between grants, scholarships and two part time jobs made it out without any debt.

Of course then I have proceeded to rack up 167k in debt in my first 3.5 years of medical school. Sort of makes me feel like I wasted all that effort 😛

I'm a senior now and between switching schools and being somewhat of a nontrad, I have about 60,000. Two years were spent at a private expensive college so that's why it's so high. Anyway, I have about a year and a half to go which will be another um... about 12,000 I believe.

Thankfully I was able to make it through undergrad without any debt. I graduated pretty much flat broke though, and if I would have known I'd be going to med school I definitely would have gone to my state school.

I graduated with about 9k in loans, but about 4k has been taken off due to teaching in a critical shortage area for 3 years. Yay teaching! 🙂

I'll finish with near 30K in gov loans. I don't know how I'll pay it all back if I don't get into medical/dental/pa school. :scared:

$0. Yay for merit-based scholarships!!! This makes it not quite as scary to apply to SMPs. $1400/credit hour. That's not even sane. 👎

I graduated with ~$21,500 debt but I paid off ~$2,000 and had $1,500 canceled for being a full-time CNA. The tuition prices at Northwestern are like 50k a year, so I'm pretty happy about my 18k in loans!
