For the most part, the pre-req to med school is a undegraduate degree (BS).

Could this BS be gotten from a school like Devry or University of Phoenix (or other schools - trade schools?) to satisfy this requirement?

These schools usually only have degrees in the computer field. Ofcourse, the science requirements would have to be gotten from another "real" school.

I say this with no certainty whatsoever, but while I am sure it is technically ok, I feel that it would be strongly looked down upon.

This can be seen in your own post when referring to other schools as "real".

Thats my initial view as well but am wondering if someone has read anywhere if the pre-req's actually suggest specific accredited school(s).

From what I've looked into, a lot of these schools also do require one get a AA/AS (which require GEs etc.) to get into them to begin with. Plus, I looked through the curriculum for the computer science degrees and they are fairly intune with a local CSU I've checked with.

Just to define "real" schools, I am referring to public schools like the UC/CSU; ofcourse u knew that.

Basically, the boat I am in is, I want to consider med school but I work full time so I don't yet want to quit my job. I am pretty close to being done with my first 2 years of school at a jr college. I am still debating about going onto a 4 yr college.

Thanks...

Call the med schools that you're interested in and get the answer straight from the horse's mouth.

Good luck.

Quick question ... What exact does "trade school" mean?
I am assuming thats what these schools are called. Is that so?

I will give a few schools here to see what they say...

Typically a trade school is somewhere you learn a "trade" haha.
Its not a bachelor's degree, I think it either an associate degree or a mentorship. I would honestly suggest a traditional university if you are serious about medical school. It is just one of the many sacrifices you will have to make along the way.

Since you still need to finish your degree, I would steer clear of any UoP/National University/DeVry type schools because med schools will most likely look down on you. They may make an exception if you already had a degree from there and then decided that you wanted to go to med school (ie. change of career) and went back to jc to get your pre-reqs. Most medical schools actually require at least 2 years of attendance at a 4-year accredited university such as a CSU/UC school.

I think it depends on the school you want to go to. When I had my informal Q and A session with the Dean of Northwestern and I asked her what kinds of students the university looks for, she basically said they DO NOT accept students from Community College or Junior College.
