Just curious to see what other's perspectives are on this subject? Do D-schools count it against you if you take undergrad in 4.5 or 5 years versus the traditional 4? How many people (with or without interviews) have gone 5 years of undergrad and still got accepted? It seems to me that more and more people are taking 5 years to complete undergrad when compared to 10-20 years ago...As of now, I plan on finishing in 4 years, but I was just curious! 🙂

Hope interviews are going well for all!!

lol I dont think its a big deal at all if it takes you 4,5 years to finish your BS.

It takes me 6 years to finish my 4-year degrees lol but my situation is diff. I came to the States when I was 21, took me about 1.5 years to finish my ESL program. Then took a few wrong courses lol + working = 6 years.

I am applying this cycle and have got 2 interviews. Hopefully I will get accepted.

I think it depends on the situation you are in. 5 years is not a problem in my point of view.

bumped after 2 hrs? really? get laid bro

i think its more important to have a high GPA vs. the years it took to complete a degree. 5 doesnt mean bad, most people work and go to school, so it can easily take 5 years.

I think it's negligible. Maybe if they had other people with exactly the same credentials and had to decide between you guys. Even then I would think that they'd put more weight on ECs/life circumstances than taking 1 more year to graduate.

FWIW, I took 9 years from the time I attempted my first college course to the time I graduated.

The catch is that my last 4 years were consistent and with a 3.7.

If you are really obsessed, then contact people on pre-dents with good stats who didn't get into schools that were within their range. Ask them if they had any weird stuff in their academic record (like 5+ years to graduate) and see if there's a correlation.

I'm going into my 7th year of undergrad, and have 4 interview invites thus far... I dont know how much its hurting me.... 🙂

Just finished undergrad and I wished I stayed in there longer.

Real life sucks.

I'm seriously considering taking a full extra year as opposed to just an extra semester...but my school is sooo expensive. I'd be better off doing an informal post-bacc for one semester.

I finished my undergraduate in 5 years.

I kinda wondered about the same thing, but it looks like it doesn't really matter 🙂 that's good to hear.
