Hey y'all. I have applied to my state schools for the fall semester. I have been accepted to one and I have an interview next week for my first choice.
Some background: I started at a private university for culinary arts. I ended up taking a medical leave of absence in spring 2012 and returned winter 2013 (they have trimesters.) During spring term I had an illness and then death in the family. I had realized when I came back in 2013 that I wanted to do something more intellectually stimulating and my experience during my medical withdrawal had made me realize that I was interested in medicine. When my family member got sick I dropped all classes except for two "easy classes," but as their illness progressed, I didn't go to my classes and ended up failing.
Fast forward to now. I'm assuming my interview will focus on my gap in education history and my DISMAL last semester. I've never had an undergraduate interview and I'm really nervous. The advisor said it was common for students over 21 (check) and students with a gap in their timeline (double check). Has anyone had experience with an undergraduate interview? What should I do to prepare?
Thanks!

I'm not sure what you mean by "undergraduate" interview. This is for medical school, correct?

No, it's for entry into a four year undergraduate program.

You might want to post this in the "hSDN" section. I know you're not in high school right now but that might be a better place to find advice about undergrad -- most people there applying to college whereas most of us here are many years beyond undergrad.

I did have undergraduate interviews... but that was about about 11 years ago. :oldman: From what I remember, they were pretty conversational. Interviewers wanted to know about my hobbies/extracurriculars, educational goals, why I was a good fit for their school, and just to generally see that I was personable and capable of holding a conversation.
