Undergrad Loan Deferment

I start school on August 4th and my school does participate in the Student Loan Clearinghouse. I'm just getting down paying my undergrad loan payments due in August and I was wondering how many of these things I still need to pay? Anyone know how long it takes for the loans to be deferred? And if I'm in school, do I still have to pay even though my lender is slow to update my status?

Do they send you a monthly statement or do you just have a payment book? If they send you a monthly statement, keep paying until they stop stending statements. Otherwise, call several days before you think the next payment is due and ask specifically when the next payment is due or if the loan is in deferrment. Don't just stop paying and assume the loan is in deferrment.
