Does anyone know if a co-author research publication (in a prestigious science journal) will greatly enhance one's application?

If you know what you did and have a good grasp of your topic, then it will help you. Many undergrads who have publications do not even know their contribution to overall project. If you are one of them, make sure that you read the paper before you go to interview. However some undergrads have great research capability and scientific writing skills. So I have to exclude them, because they are the one who really deserve to have their names on papers. As far as application concerns, focus on DAT and science GPA. They are primary factors. Research is an extra factor to improve your application.

I definitely have a good grasp on my research...Ive presented at 3 different conferences and 2 grants to continue doing research. I am only asking because my gpa is a 3.4 which is on the lower end and I want to do something to have somewhat of a competitive edge on my application.
