As if I needed something else to worry about...the local CC I am (was?) planning on attending this spring just received warning about losing their accreditation. The accrediting body is not one I've heard of before so I need to research that in greater depth. Regardless, has anyone else dealt with the potential of their school being "black listed"? What did/are you doing about it? Are your classes (completed ones) then null and void after losing accreditation? I realize the easy answer is, go somewhere else. But the convenience factor is high i.e. location, cost, etc. Thanks for the input!

Edit: I have no idea what happened to that thread title. I blame auto-correct for that nonsense.

Second Edit: apparently we as members can change our own thread titles (not able to on some other forums). Loving SDN more and more!

I dont think it matters unless it is online and has a reputation on being a degree mill.

Albeit the classes I will take (presumably) are online. They are not from a degree mill, but part of a conglomerate of CC's that are feeders to the university's here. I get that anonymity is the key here but...Northwest Vista College is where I am planning(?) to do a lot of my work before transferring to UTSA. This has got me spooked and I should do a deep dive on the MSAR for my state's SOM(s) requirements.

Some schools do not like online classes. They also do not like Pre-reqs taken at the CC. That being said, as long as your 4 year school will accept the credits you should be getting a 4 year degree from an accredited college in the US. Schools have accreditation scares all the time, that shouldnt be a huge deal until the school gets shut down. That being said, why not take classes from the other CC if they have online offering as well.

Good point. As stupid as it sounds, I didn't create a Plan B at this point. Guess it's time to realize Plan B is really Plan A and more than likely will be going with Plan D.
