By work you mean publications and reasearch accomplishments or marks?
I don't really think marks matter, but I would say research and scientific journals publications will probably be taken into account. As I can see, lots of pre-dents have already started a dental field related research and they might already have publications coming out. Which will make them look better than other applicants eventhough it was done before dental school started.
