For those who took a gap year between graduating and attending medical school, did you have to start paying back your undergraduate student loans while on your gap year? And when you started medical school how did you continue paying them? Considering a gap year, however, nervous about the undergraduate student loan repayment monsters!

You enter repayment after the 6 month grace period. You can defer your loans once you are a full time student again.

Usually after grace period as mentioned above though I was able to call/ask to defer payments for a few months more

So were you able to get off repaying them and then once you started medical school you were able to be classed as a full time student and still not pay?

Nah, I don't remember exactly but I think I got like an extra 3 months and have been paying it since. Have not deferred yet since I've been working/am not in school yet

I’m currently in a gap year and I had to start “paying” on my loans b/c I work full-time but since it’s an income based repayment plan my payments are $0. Once I start M1 year in the fall they’ll go back into deferment

I had an economic hardship deferral for my loans.
