I'm a senior in high school planning on taking pre-med this fall. I'm trying to make a decision for college, but I was just curious, what would you say I should limit my undergraduate spending to(as far as tuition/board etc.)? I know med school loans are inevitable, but where should I cut off loans for undergrad. and what have you spent? Thanks.

Also. Anyone have any opinions on Pace University, Hofstra University, or Wagner College for Pre-med?

go ahead and rack up as much debt as you care to in undergrad; it will pale in comparison to med school loans--a drop in the bucket.

pre-med is not a major. it's just a set of prerequisite classes, so you can do it at any 4-year institution that offers science, math, and english classes.

Leave out the sarcasm next time (at least I hope that's what the first part was), not every high school student will pick up on it =P.

OP, if medicine is your ultimate goal then it really doesn't matter much which school you go to. You can get into any med school from any undergrad, and there will be opportunities for things like research and extracuriculars at just about any 4 year institution. I think undergrad debt is one of the worst things any student can do to themselves, so do what you can to keep it at a minimum. Go to the best school that you LIKE that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. This usually winds up being a state school.

I posted in here because I wanted to know from people who've already incurred the debt and have some experience, as opposed to people like myself who are just beginning to contemplate it.

Haha, I got the sarcasm, I'm not that much of an idiot.
and I'm starting to agree a state school is a good choice, I've gotten into Binghamton and Stony Brook, so that's always an option.
