I know these things are posted on a daily basis...but would really like some input.

Currently a graduating senior this year at UCD.
Molecular Bio=A-
Biochem Series (Split into 2 parts at Davis)=B+
Genetics=B-
OChem Series=B
Physiology=B
Physio Lab=A-
2 Other Neurology Classes=A-
Nutrition Class=A
Anatomy (Took it for fun)=B or B+ this quarter

Courses at Community College
Physics=B
Calculus=A
English Courses=A
Bio=B- (Averaged)
General Chem=B- (Averaged)

My UC GPA is a 3.3~3.4
My CC was a 3.01.

MCATs I haven't taken yet.

Shadowed 3 doctors, 3 letters of recs. 2 MDs, one DO.
Have a letter of rec from my physio TA and one from my biochem instructor.
Volunteered at 2 clinics.

My question is this..I screwed up in HS graduated with a below 2.0 GPA (bad environment, grew up with the wrong people and what not).I screwed up in CC with the bio classes and general chem classes. (Received a C+ in each one, then got a B the following semester in each one)Was working at the time to support my family and all that stuff, but yeah those are just excuses so no need to waste time on that. First person in family to go to college and what not.

Currently studying for the MCAT because with adequate time, I believe I will do fine (At least I hope). Looking into DO schools, a few friends of mine have gotten into some such as Touro in Vegas with a 3.1 and few extra curricular.

Basically..My question is this..Can I retake those general bio classes at another community college? What about ochem? Should I do post bacc or do open enrollment at UC Berkeley? Post bacc is very expensive so not sure what you guys think. MD would be nice, but I don't have any problems with having the opportunity of being a DO.

Also my CC was semester system based and we are quarter at Davis. What impact will this have?

Any advice would be really appreciated, harsher the better.

Thanks!

1) Med schools don't care about high school, so don't worry about your 2.0
2) With no MCAT we really can't see the whole picture
3) Might not help the fact that you really haven't blown any difficult courses out of the water (maybe except molecular) not saying that you have to, just wondering your ability to handle more difficult coursework.
4) Retake classes at a university if possible.
5) O chem is something that adcoms might look at, so if you can improve it that would help.
6) No post-bacc

If you feel you are ready for the MCAT then take it, after that you can start assesing your options.

UC davis u guys r going DOWN in the big west conference. hehe

as long as you do well on ur mcat i think ur fine.

open enrollment at the UC is biggest waste of money ever. my premed advisor was pushing on me. she dont know nuttin.
