What is the best science class to do undergraduate research in that relates to dentistry really well?

If you could find a research about stem cells taken from tooth pulp, it would be an amazing project.... but its very rare to find such.

My guess would be anything that has to do with Histology.... Tissue sampling and handling markers and different stains would give you a huge leg up when you get into histology in dental school.

I agree with dentalWorks that research utilizing histological techniques would be beneficial for success in dental school, but I would also like to add that I think research in nearly any capacity (not necessarily directly related to dentistry) will be beneficial for someone applying to dental school.

I worked in a laboratory studying the physiology and growth of muscle and at a few of my interviews, the interviewers seemed very interested in discussing this with me. I also had a friend who worked with genetically modified corn (clearly not dental related at all), and the discussion at her interview in Lincoln Nebraska consisted almost entirely about her research.

Ultimately, experience in research will sharpen your critical thinking skills. I'm sure anyone who has worked in a lab before would agree it's common for things to not work out as expected, and it's up to you to fix the problem. Research is a valuable and unique experience that you may be able to use to appeal to adcoms!

the most bestest area of science you could do research in if you're interested in dentistry is..dentistry. if that's not an option anything really goes [except for plant stuff GROSS haha]
