I recently spoke with my advisor and he strongly suggested that I take Calculus II. From doing my own research and from reading the board, it seems that Calculus I alone is enough. Am I wrong? Should I continue on to take Calculus II?

calc II is a joke. don't waste your time unless you plan on doing some kind of engeneering or calc based physics, etc.

man..you don't even need Cal I for dental

Cal II has pretty good chances of lowering your GPA (from experience of friends that taken it)

honestly, if I could go back, I would of stopped at college algebra because all other math classes aren't required

Take as much math and computer science as possible. In today's world of technological dentistry, mathematical and computer science abilities are very valuable

That statement is completely wrong. There are schools that require at least 1 semester of calculus. Some schools, such as the one I will be starting at this fall, actually require 2 semesters of calculus. Do research on the schools you plan on applying to, and then make your decisions from there.

find out what the schools youre applying to require. if there is no need for calc 2 then DO NOT TAKE IT, unless you either want a lower gpa, you absolutely love to study, or you like pain. integration techniques wont help you extract a tooth/do a filling. and even if it did....the stuff you learn in that class you will have forgotten long long long before you ever graduate from dental school.

Yeah, Cal 2 was a pain, but I would take it b/c some dental schools require it! good luck!

I think many science majors require 2 semesters of Calc. I know everyone involved in something science at Temple needs it. So even if Dental school's don't require it, you might have to end up taking it as per your major requirements.

Calc II is easy
Calc III, I would recommend you stay away from.
As others said, see what D-schools want.

GOOD LUCK

Like said, check requirements.

My undergrad requires 2 calc classes for bio major. ("Calc for science majors"... gee, what a bag of fun)

getting an A in calc 2 can really stand out on your transcript...or not.
