Those in EM would argue that Emergency Medicine fits the bill. Of course, working 40% of weekends, nights, and holidays for the rest of your life may not be worth having numerous days off during the week to you.
Lifestyle: 35-40 hours/ week, no call. Ability to schedule shifts around vacations etc
Compensation: Midway between primary care specialties and surgical subspecialties. (But for much less time than both.) For me its not about the compensation, its about the compensation per hour.
Personal Level of Satisfaction: Depends on what satisfies you. In fact, I believe this should be the only factor you look at for residency selection. But if helping someone out on the worst day of their life brings you satisfaction, maybe EM is for you.
