I was wondering what everyone has been doing to educate themselves about healthcare reform: what the specific problems are now and what are possibilities to fix these problems in the future. I don't necessarily want specific answers, but rather what people did to research and support their opinions. I have already talked with many docs and read a lot of articles in the news, as well as some in medical journals. However, I'm still feeling like I don't have a firm hold on this topic. Any help would be much appreciated!

I just finished the book "Severed Trust: Why American Medicine Hasn't Been Fixed" by George Lundberg (former editor of JAMA).

He does a good analysis of the problems facing medicine today and their causes. Also, he offers pretty good solutions from an idealistic standpoint, but I doubt if many of these things will ever be implemented b/c of each involved group's self-serving policies.

You might want to check this out....I'm just starting to research this topic myself so I'm not really in a position to criticize or offer an opinion yet....
