I just wanted to get this thread started. Has anyone applied to University of New England, or planning to? Do you know when they start interviewing, I've eyet to see any information on PharmCAS about their 2009 stats.

They have already started to interview and will continue through April. The faculty here are awesome and there is no reason to be nervous. You might want to be prepared to write a short essay on a current topic though. Also, I want to include that this is a great program and I feel pretty honored to be part of the first class of 2013. Good luck!

Does anyone know when the first batch of interviews were?

I called and I spoke with Janel, she said that they have already had interviews in January and the interviews on 2/26 will be the second group.

Any advice from current students?

Hi, I am part of the class of 2013. My interview was very relaxed. There were two interviewers and they were both very friendly. My interview was open file and the questions were simple. Have knowledge about the school and what our focus is. Also, be prepared to answer why UNE COP is your number one choice. There will also be a short writing sample. Have fun with it.

I expect there to be close to a thousand applicants this year and they will probably interview the top 200. There will also be about 35 students from the pre-pharm program that will get in so that brings it down to roughly 65 open spots. It's competitive but it's a great program. Good luck!

Just wondering what stats were you accepted with to UNE ?

Thanks

I also have an interview on Feb 26th. I am really looking forward to it and hope to get in. Can anyone who knows a little more about the school tell me what they have heard? What do you think about Portland ??

Thanks for the reply in advance

I interviewed on March 26th and am anxiously awaiting a response from UNE. You've all probably learned of your statuses by now as I've just now discovered this thread for UNE.

Oh...and being that I'm from Southern California, I find Portland to be quite charming and attractive, more so than many other New England towns that I've been to...it's a personal impression though..

Got accepted here but dunno if I'm going. Already paid my deposit though.
Interviewed January 15...accepted...March 18.

IS the interview open or closed file?

Hey how are you...I may have talked with you during the interview day on the 26th.....It probably took a while for you to get your reply in the mail. Mine was mailed on the second and I got it on the 7th....I personally like the staff and potential of the school and the direction it is headed in, but am still a little hesitant about going there. I want to be at a school that's innovative and has a great feel for the future of pharmacy and the faculty/prof's at UNE seem to have this mindset. On the other hand it costs a boat load to go there and Maine just seems a little behind the times pharmacy profession wise.... SOME ONE CONVINCE ME TO GO. IF you've got a good argument, for or against, I'd love to hear it. I love adventure and that 's exactly what this would be, but I did get in to a local pharm school with a ton of tradition and it's cheaper. I just liked UNE's freshness and the excitement surrounding the new program. PLEASE GIVE ME A GOOD OPINION anyone who's listening.

THanks, Aaron

I'm trying to figure out who you may be🙂 I'd like to get some information from current students to make my ultimate decision between UNE and another school as well...

Hey, I thought you were another california candidate that was at UNE on the 26th. Doesn't matter though. All I hear is good things about UNE, but the fact that the school is so new is the only thing that is holding me back. It's a huge move, but I don't know, you only live once right? I like the fact that the faculty seems relatively new (as in recently finished their residencies)...This could be good and bad I guess. I truly am having a really hard time deciding.

Are You the Aaron from Oregon? If so I believe we chatted the morning of the interviews at the table right before they began.

Does anyone know if there are anymore interviews after the April 16th interview? I interviewed April 9th, and waiting to hear back and I really loved the city, hopefully I get in!

Yay I just got my acceptance this past weekend! See you all in the Fall 2010

I interviewed April 9 and got my acceptance letter this weekend too! I'll be seeing y'all next year! Also, yes Serene7, April 16 was the last day of interviews.

Hey guys, im still looking for a roommate so i can start looking for 2brm apartments. I have a car, so i would prefer someone to also have a car so i can find a place within 10min. driving distance. This way we have more options, and it would be a little easier to find a good apartment.
I know its a little early for this, but i like to plan ahead 🙂
Here's what I'm looking for:
-a female
-a quiet and clean person
-a non-smoker
-no drama!!
