Hello all! First I want to say congrats to those who have been accepted...this is such an exciting time! I know that it is super early to be thinking about housing situation for the Fall semester, but I figured I would ask anyways and see what happens. I was curious if anyone else had thought about housing situations?

I currently am living in South Florida so it will be a bit of an adjustment to ME I'm sure lol but my lease here is up the end of May and I won't be able to extend it through the summer. I furnished my 2br apartment (although I currently live alone) completely so I have a bunch of good, new furniture that I don't want to go to waste. Also, I thought it would be really cool to live with fellow classmates especially being the inaugural class I see us being very close. I think it would be nice too, to have someone/others to study with and whatnot without always having to meet on campus or something.

I'm sure that most of you would prefer to stay "home" for the summer, but I've been living on my own for years now so home for me is where ever I am and too it would be nice to get a feel for the Portland area before we get slammed with coursework. I'm not saying that I would be in Portland 24/7 the summer but again with my lease in FL ending in may I don't know how i'd get around to not having a place to live for the couple months before classes start lol. (of course there is the option of temporary storage and staying with a friend somewhere, but it'd be nice, i think personally, to have piece of mind that I have a legit place close/semi-close to school already lined up)

If anyone is interested or thinks that they might be, feel free to reply here or PM me and we can continue discussing it 🙂 Again, I know it is early but it's good to get a head start! haha thanks everyone & see you in the Fall if nothing else!

There are a lot of nice, inexpensive housing for UNE students (people only want to rent to UNE students) in certain areas because the students typically have a good reputation. The only thing is, the UNE program will be year round once it starts in August, and you will have to find someone who will not just rent from Sept-May as there are many of those available. I just put down my deposit for UNE (26 y/o female) and I am waiting on one other school to give me an answer. So, I did look in some areas, I don't know the worst areas to avoid (live in New Hampshire, just a little too far to drive in every day) but we can talk if I decide to go there. Having a room mate is huge to decrease costs.

It would be a good idea to go up this spring/summer before school starts and find a listing with a real estate broker. They'll tell you the ins and outs of portland and the boroughs.

Hi, I'm in too! Congratulations all!!! Moving from North Dakota. I am 32 and married. My wife and I are visiting Portland for 4 days in March and are looking to buy a house. We don't have a real estate agent yet but plan on checking out as many neighborhoods close to UNE as possible. Any recommendation are appreciated and anything I can do to help others please don't hesitate to ask. Can't wait to be part of the class!

I'm not sure about purchasing a home, I'm sure though it won't be too difficult of a task. Good luck! If I hear of any good realtors or areas I'll let you know. For those interested in renting, I spoke with someone from Bayside Village and she mentioned that although the leases may be August 12-July21 [or similar] they are flexible for those couple weeks. This is the website, http://baysidevillagemaine.com/ it seems like a good idea/starting point. It comes furnished though, which is nice but then I need to figure out what to do with all mine -haha-. The leasing manager said that they do roommate matching too, of course I'd prefer to live with other dental students as opposed to others. Curious on other opinions on this place?
