Pretty simple, BU or UNE? Would love to hear your thoughts.
If I'm remembering correctly, UNE is quite a bit cheaper than BU. If so, I would choose UNE. I know two people who go there and they love it.Pretty simple, BU or UNE? Would love to hear your thoughts.

$20,000 x 4 years = $80,000 with 7% interest? Definitely UNE. That was my second choice actually. I'm just not cut out for living in Maine.I believe it's around $20,000 cheaper a year, and I know they're a fairly newer school. I'd love to hear others thoughts as well.
It's really up to you. If you would seriously considering going to UNE, then I would attend the interview. They are obviously interested enough in your application to call you for an interview invite in the middle of April. If you are leaning towards not likely to drop BU for there, then I wouldn't waste your time or their time.I'm already accepted to BU, and got a call for an interview at UNE yesterday. I really have no idea what I should do, I just have to confirm the interview by Monday. I think I would like it and it's a bit cheaper, but it's still just a chance, ya know?
Yeah I hear you. I would attend UNE. My main factors are cost and will I get a good education. I'm a little worried because they have graduated their first class yet. I know lecom is fairly new and they didn't do very well. It's really up to you. If you would seriously considering going to UNE, then I would attend the interview. One is a current D1 and the other is a D4. Obviously the D1 hasn't fully experienced the clinical side of things, but she said that she enjoys her professors and don't feel like any of them are the "out to get you" type. The D4 said that she hasn't experienced any problems with getting patients, but she is very a go getter person so that may have something to do with it. The only complaints both of them have is that housing is limited nearby campus so you might have an extra bit of a drive if you want to go cheap, gross anatomy was on a different campus (can't remember if they said all of it? Some of it?), and they hated the dress code at first but stopping caring after like a month. Thanks for the input, fog.
Can you share more about what your friends love about UNE? What year are they? Enough patients? How are the faculty?

If BU truly dealt with their problems and money isn't a huge factor then I would choose BU. My brother went to BU for undergrad and it's freaking sweet. However, Boston is
Thanks for that. The dean said they have over 4000 patients right now which is a lot for the area. I really liked the school and their philosophy. I find out Tuesday so I'll keep you guys posted! One is a current D1 and the other is a D4. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it!Scumbag Steve votes for UNE unequivocally.
Just got accepted into UNE off the waitlist. I have no idea what to do as I liked both schools. Help!
Yeah, I love Boston, lived there for two years, but I'd probably go UNE based on school cost and cost of living. Heck, it'd only a few hour drive if you want to go to the city if that's your main draw.If BU truly dealt with their problems and money isn't a huge factor then I would choose BU. My brother went to BU for undergrad and it's freaking sweet. However, Boston is SUPER expensive.
The two people I know who go there have said that it's rough, but it's totally doable.Yeah I'm leaning towards UNE right now. The 35 credits a semester seems high though from other programs I've looked into.
I imagine that most dental schools are all pretty similar in difficulty, but thanks for letting me know that I appreciate all your help! The two people I know who go there have said that it's rough, but it's totally doable.
Hi guys, this may be trivial but do I email Boston first letting them know I won't be attending, then put my deposit down at UNE? I already submitted some financial aid forms, deposit and started working on the medical stuff for BU so I kinda feel bad about it haha. Thanks!

Yeah, our first semester is 38 credit hours :O
I've been comparing many dental schools' curriculum and trying to see what's different.
I think that most schools don't include the simulation clinic/lab time as a part of the hours in the semester, subtracting that time makes UNE's credit hours almost the same as the average in many schools (26-28 credit hours)
I'm pretty sure UNE is not out to destroy us, it'll probably.. hopefully.. be similar to other schools in terms of course load. 🙂
😱 How many classes is that? I only have 24 next semester.
Oh ok, I was thinking it would be 16 classes or something crazy. that's a ton of credits lol
The deposit is due Wednesday. I'm going to call and pay over the phone today, and then email Boston. When is the deposit for UNE due by? (I was given 2 weeks to make a decision back in March)
I think you should do both asap. Free up the spot at BU so they can work on filling it up quickly and secure the spot at UNE so you don't lose it.
Once you're in, make sure you join our facebook group! 😀
