Hey,
Incoming UNECOM MS-1 here, just wondering if anyone here is on rotations via UNECOM and what you think of your respective rotation sites so far!
Thanks!

ATrain, there is a panel of third years that comes back to discuss pros and cons of their respective sites before lottery. So if your MSIIs are being nice they'll let you come and listen to the good and bad of each site. When I was an MSI, the MSIIs weren't as nice as we were... but this past year we let the MSIs come, listen, and learn. We only asked that they hold their questions until all the MSIIs had asked their first.

With the panel every year you'll get current information right before your lottery. There are a lot of changes occurring these days regarding rotation sites: Tufts is making contracts with Maine hospitals, Vermont is losing contracts with Maine hospitals, we lost Cooperstown to an exclusive contract with Columbia, and the Newark site has been bought out and consolidated which has necessitated some moving around of schedules and housing down there. We added spots in other rotation sites, and there have been personnel changes within the hospitals we have rotation sites at. So what's going on at the different rotation sites is very fluid and what's going on this year may not be true in two years when you lottery for your site.

I'll say that all the third years were pretty happy with their sites in general. All have pros and cons, but none truly suck. You work more at some than others, more call at some than others, etc. The panel was very candid, and we hope to continue that tradition.

Thanks Shy, that sounds like it will be very helpful!
