Unfair NBME testing conditions

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Terrible syntax, punctuation, and spelling. And they wonder why they failed?

The comments are clearly written by the same person trolling with different accounts (same style of writing).

I dont agree with you.I have witnessed this problem .Many of my friends also faced this problem.

Did a 4th grader write this? I can't take it seriously if they can't even write it properly. I read the first 3 sentences and this "report" is trash.

Lol @ the discussion at the bottom of the article.

As someone stated, that is for sure the work of 1 troll making comments from multiple accounts.

Also, to start off with discredibility and doubts amongst its readers, the atrocious grammer compounded the problem, maybe they failed because their English sucked? Who knows.

I think this is an isolated incident from when this years tests were starting up again. I know people that have taken tests in Philly since then and had no computer problems.

I probably should be working on ERAS instead of taking the piss out non-native English speakers but...

Ok, here are some reasons this looks staged.

1. The initial poster for this thread claims to have stumbled on this "CNN iReport", but all of their post on SDN are about NBME and Step 2 CS in Philidelphia being unfair.

2. CNN iReport is not CNN, and it is inaccurate to refer to the linked article as news. It is a poorly written editorial at best. ANYONE Can upload a story to CNN iReport; it is analogous to a blog post. CNN states "The stories here are not edited fact-checked or screened before they post." If you notice in the upper left it says "not vetted by CNN".

3. As pointed out before, there is terrible grammar, spelling and the spacing drives me insane. (commas go after words, not before, and you put spaces after periods).

4. The CNN iReport author has written a total of ONE article.

5. Having slow computers doesn't constitute discrimination. (Maybe cheapness, or cost cutting greed, but that is a topic for another thread).

I could go on, but it is really not necessary. To whoever failed CS, Stop trying to convince other people that NBME is unfair, and study/practice to pass it the next time. We talk about CS as being a joke, but if it is essential we are able to communicate with our patients, gather information, and disseminate said information. You could be a medical savant, but if there are language barriers, such aptitude may not be effective.

Dealing with stress and handling unforeseen circumstances is part of being a physician. It sucks having to take CS again, and it could possibly push back an applicants matching plan, but there is nothing gained by blaming a personal insufficiency on the objective assessment. Whining about it is not going to result in a free re-do.

Alright Hope007. Explain this to me. Why would someone who claims to be in residency join SDN today(9/15/12), just to make a comment on a Step 2 CK forum?

Sorry, but it makes it seem like you profile is fake. I took my CS in Phili also, and the computers are slow, but whatever you type would end up on the screen, even if there was a delay. This functionally didn't cause any problems for me. This seems to be a classic case of the defense mechanism rationalization.

Come on man.Stop your conspiracy theories.I am resident at my home country.Any problem? Stop bullying. You cannot be that harsh to anyone who disagrees with you.Instead how do we know that you are not someone paid by NBME to defend them. I am not saying NBME is unfair all the time but this isolated incident did happen. And i better ignore you in future.
