I probably should be working on ERAS instead of taking the piss out non-native English speakers but...
Ok, here are some reasons this looks staged.
1. The initial poster for this thread claims to have stumbled on this "CNN iReport", but all of their post on SDN are about NBME and Step 2 CS in Philidelphia being unfair.
2. CNN iReport is not CNN, and it is inaccurate to refer to the linked article as news. It is a poorly written editorial at best. ANYONE Can upload a story to CNN iReport; it is analogous to a blog post. CNN states "The stories here are not edited fact-checked or screened before they post." If you notice in the upper left it says "not vetted by CNN".
3. As pointed out before, there is terrible grammar, spelling and the spacing drives me insane. (commas go after words, not before, and you put spaces after periods).
4. The CNN iReport author has written a total of ONE article.
5. Having slow computers doesn't constitute discrimination. (Maybe cheapness, or cost cutting greed, but that is a topic for another thread).
I could go on, but it is really not necessary. To whoever failed CS, Stop trying to convince other people that NBME is unfair, and study/practice to pass it the next time. We talk about CS as being a joke, but if it is essential we are able to communicate with our patients, gather information, and disseminate said information. You could be a medical savant, but if there are language barriers, such aptitude may not be effective.
Dealing with stress and handling unforeseen circumstances is part of being a physician. It sucks having to take CS again, and it could possibly push back an applicants matching plan, but there is nothing gained by blaming a personal insufficiency on the objective assessment. Whining about it is not going to result in a free re-do.
