I am very disappointed with TMDSAS application system. According to my school NP/P grades are not evaluated in GPA calculation. I called my school and they told me that they do not include P/NP courses in GPA calculation (as I know). Even my advisor at that time told me not to worry about it since it does not affect my GPA. TMDSAS does not count P as a grade (which makes sense), but NP as F ( which does not make sense at all). I got 4 Ps (originially A) but they do not count as a grade, however my d+ (no-pass grade) evaluated as F. Please not try to defend the system since it does not make sense on the evaluation of P/NP courses.

Your adviser may not have been aware that you were talking about a failing grade in the P/F. Anyway, what school are you talking about that does not count failure in gpa calculations? Your school may have been lenient but neither TMDSAS nor AADSAS appear to be so.

Well look at it from their perspective, if you just have a non-pass grade, can they always assume D, or can they always assume F? Though I agree with you mostly, doc is right in saying that they need to somehow count failure in classes , and although I don't think counting it as an F is the best way to go, I can't really think of a better way to do it.

pass/no-pass only has two possible outcomes, passing or not passing. you did not earn a D+ in the class, you earned a no-pass. if you wanted to get a D+ in the class, you should've taken a graded version. not passing a class means you do not get any credit for it, which is 0 or an F. If you could put down the grade you received in the pass/no-pass class, what would be the purpose of it being pass/no-pass.
