I'm currently a junior at a good state school; went to community college for one year.
Community College GPA: 3.87 (first semester I still wasn't focused)
University cGPA: 3.95; sGPA: 3.92
MCAT: 41 (13PS/13VR/15BS)

EC's
-1 week trip with community outreach to impoverished area (~1 year ago)
-1 mission trip with church (~3 years ago)
-100 hours Emergency Department volunteering at large hospital
-50 hours shadowing
-Work construction/landscaping over all breaks (need money to help parents pay for school; best money I can make by a long shot at the moment)
-Paid Tutoring 1 semester so far (~100hrs; 200 by end of next); tutor General Chemistry + Physics
-Powerlifting; hoping to gain substantial ranking in the IPF within the next year; tail-end of recovering from ACL surgery right now.
-Played rugby for a bit
-Research = just started; but I have to at the very least finish a thesis to graduate in the honor's program at my school.

So I guess I could apply this summer; however it is a HUGE dream of mine to get into a top 10 medical school.
So the way I see it I have two options: apply this summer and hope for the best or 2;
apply next summer and use the next year to beef up my volunteering + research + other EC's.
If I apply next summer it obviously means taking a "year off"; which I'm not too keen on. But if it's worth it to postpone my application for a year I definitely will.
I cannot apply both this summer + the next if I fail to gain acceptance to a school of my preference; the money is just too tight.

After looking at a lot of threads on this site of applicants with similar GPA/MCAT it appears that most, if not all of them, have a substantial list of EC's! (Starting clubs, significant humanitarian work in other countries, leadership positions in "pre-health" activities, at least one publication etc.). Makes me nervous :/

Any opinions/advice appreciated! Thanks all.

Your MCAT is at or above the 90% for every single school. Even with average ECs I can't help but feel you'll get into at least one top 10
