Been lurking for a long time and got a reason recently to post (yes I know theres alot of threads on IA but none meet what Im looking for).

Im a resident here on campus and they had a fire drill one night. I was in a really pissy mood so I left the building but didn't go check in with the dorm officials like your supposed to. Instead I sat on a bench outside of the dorm area on my laptop. School official got pissed at me and called campus PD.

Got set up for a meeting with the Dean of student affairs the next morning and after talking he basically laughed about it and said dont worry about it. When I asked if this was going to go on my record, he laughed and said if it was, only he can put it on there.

So my question is, should I report this on AMCAS under IA?

They did a police report (lol wut?) about it (campus PD). Will this show up in a criminal background check? Im also going to probably go talk to the dean again.

Were you charged with anything? A police report by itself doesn't mean anything.

I dont know if i was "charged" tbh. I went down to the campus PD station and the guy had a paper I had to sign saying I had to meet with the dean the next morning. I met with the dean and after we discussed the circumstances he said dont worry about it. I just dont wanna apply and find out I should have included it on AMCAS.

I'm the kind of person that would want absolute closure about this, as you do, and I wouldn't worry about this. Talk to the Dean again if you feel like you need further clarification, but I'd suggest asking the campus PD instead/as well, since the Dean seems to have already made it clear that this was laughable.

its obvious what I would ask the dean. But what am I supposed to ask campus PD? Do you have a record of said event? If its not on and never was on my transcript, all I really need to know is if it shows up on a criminal background check, cuz tbh, idk if those background checks go as deep as campus PD files lol

Ask them if they have a record of the incident, how they have it stored, what it's classified as, and how long they will retain the record. Maybe ask if they ever release such records to CBC's. Honestly, just explain why you're concerned and they should be able to tell you if this is significant enough to worry about.

nah im not trolling. I just worry about every single little thing lol. Regardless of if he said dont worry about it, I still want to make sure its not going to show up on my record or a CBC. I'd hate to get accepted and then get it pulled cuz of something silly like this.

yeah it isn't illegal i know, but I dont want a med school thinking im trying to cover something up if I never knew I had to report it.

Institutional Action means that the school took action against you. Being sent to the principal's office is not an institutional action. Institutional action would be probation, suspension, expulsion, dismisssal, being kicked out of on-campus housing, and so forth.
