I've looked around the site for a while but this is my first actual post. I have a question. I have transfered to 3 different Universities for various reason (none which are academic) and was wondering how Dental Schools would view this. I would really like to hear from people who have transfered and applied to Dental Schools but any feedback is very well appreciated. Thanks in advance 🙂

whatever reasons you had to that are yours and yours only... we cant judge that...

My advice will be to explain those reasons on you personal statement... there is where you have a shot of presenting/explaining any 'red flags' that are elsewhere in your application...

You will probably find a wide array of answers on this question, and I don't think any one would be "right."

I would call your target schools and speak with their admissions staff on your situation. If I were to wager on the matter, I would assume schools would not mind as long as you completed all pre-requisite materials and did well in your classes.

I know of several students who spent significant time at community college before finishing at a four year.

Me: I will have courses from FIVE different places of higher learning as I scrambled to get my pre-reqs in for this cycle. The place where I received my degree from was from a top university. After my BS, I will have transcripts from two community colleges, and two four-year universities with online courses.

I wouldn't sweat your transfers too much...as long as you did well at those three places!

I have attended two universities (transferred for non-academic reasons as well) and one community college for summer courses, so there was a total of three schools on my AADSAS application. I only interviewed at two dental schools, but neither of them asked or mentioned the three different colleges on my application. The fact that it wasn't mentioned makes me think it was not a big deal. However, I would just be prepared to explain why you transferred if asked during an interview.

I also had 5 community colleges and one four year university and I still got accepted this year, noone asked me why either... ...

I had to take classes at different schools to fit my job schedule, because I was working full time and could only take night classes (not every school offeres evening classes that I needed each semester.)

So you will be just fine I think, as long as you have your degree from that last university you attended...

When you do apply, stay on top of both AADSAS and your schools with the transcript verification process. It takes several weeks for AADSAS to accomplish the verification assuming your schools are quick to mail them out. I would recommend getting tracking numbers and/or receipts from your school registrar when you request the goods.
