I have interviews scheduled at these 2 places one day after another, I don't know if I'll be able to go to both and I don't know which one to cancel b/c I don't know enough about them to compare the 2 places. Can anyone help me?

I interviewed at both UIC and UCI (around the same time) and these seem to be very similar programs (both clinically oriented, committed to teaching, with a university hospital and VA hospital as the main experiences), so I would just pick based on location. Please let me know if you have any specific questions.

what about fellowship placement? do you think one does better than the other?

here's some stuff from my materials:

UIC: about half of the 2004 grads (class is about 40) went into fellowship, about half of those at UIC (others are Cinncinnati, Loyola, OHSU, Howard, Connecticut, Rush, Michgan, NIH, Maryland, Mayo). 2 people in GI, 3 in cardio. no info on previous years.

UCI: 14/25 of 2004 grads went to fellowships at UCI (again about half), USC, UCD, Loma Linda, Cinncinati, Harbor, Hope, Tufts. 4 in GI and 2 in cardio. Previous years looked similar.

Hmm... looks about the same; maybe the institutions on UIC's list look better, but then people in CA tend not to venture out.
