So is there anyone else out there who is complete at Udub and waiting for an interview invite? Better yet, has anyone received one yet? Especially if you are a WA resident.

I'm waiting 😀

They dont usually start handing out interview invitations till late August from what I have heard. My friend interviewed got a real early interview date... Late Sept, and some had Early October. If you are taking the August MCAT like me... then you should expect one around November....

UW is my top choice as well.... Of course, my application is not complete because my premed committe hasn't managed to get my recomendation sent yet, despite having my materials since May.

My MCAT is 32S, and my GPA is 3.5/3.95 BCPM, so I really don't know how it will go.

Good luck everyone! I hope we all get interviews!!!

keitaiKT Are you a WWAMI resident?

I'm a UW re-applicant. Last year I got an invite at the end of September to interview in mid October. And I'm still technically on the unranked waitlist (but who would drop out at this point????) This last year I got VERY used to waiting, so don't get too anxious yet because it's just the beginning! Good luck all!

Hey Olydoc2b I hope we can be classmates together!!!!

Have any of the OOS applicants gotten the UW secondary invite yet?? 🙁

Yes I am - Washington resident!

Who else?

You have great stats. As a Washington resident you have a great chance at getting into UW.
I've heard of people totally screwing up the interviews though 🙁

Ugh...really? I have to check the interview forum to see what the general consensus has been on how the UW interviews go. That really scares me though - to do all this work (also a postbacc), get so far with the process, and then blow the interview.

Dont worry KeritaKT. Lets just take small steps at a time so it won't feel overwhelming!!! I know we all can get in to our top choice! 👍

I got an interview invite for UWSOM today! I am SOOOO excited. I knew I was above their cut off, but with an early interview, maybe I'll get an early decision too!!!!!

Yay Washington!!!!!

nope, still waiting and hoping over here. good luck to all who have!

It's almost impossible to get in if you're OOS, unless you're applying MSTP. UW gives preference to all WWAMI residents (five states). And they are only interested in URM and those looking to work with the underserved:

From UW website:
Apart from applicants having the academic qualifications, successful applicants from outside the WWAMI region either come from a disadvantaged background or have demonstrated a strong commitment and service to the underserved population.

Congrats! UDub Med is an exciting place. Good luck.

Hopefully I'll be complete at UW next week! They have my secondary app. and my LOR's will be sent in tomorrow...

Is UW number 1 for most of you guys?

SeattlePB, when were you complete?

I can't wait to hear from them...it's a beautiful school. Even if I hear from them soon though I believe Wyoming interviews are like in Feb. so I'll be waiting a while if I am lucky enough to get an interview. Good Luck to all of you.

No invite here and probably wont get one. But i'm glad for that because then i will not have to write more essays. I'm sick of them.

Anybody else interviewing in Seattle any time soon?

I had to reschedule the first date they gave me because I am going to be out of town (interviewing in LA) and my new interview date is more than a month later 🙁

Oh well. its ok. i'll have interview experience by then and hopefully I'll nail it.

Hooray!! I just got my UW invite! It's for 10/18. 😀 😀 😀

But shoot, my first interview is at my number one school and it's in just 3 weeks! :scared:

Any advice?

i'm a washington resident and i was complete around the beginning of august. i haven't heard a thing 🙁 when were the people who have interviews complete?

I sent everything in 7/27/05. Not sure when I was complete, but hopefully that gives you an idea.

I'm sure yours is coming! It's a great feeling to see that e-mail waiting for you! I would be so incredibly excited to go to UWSOM.

I'm out of state and still waiting on a secondary.

i was complete two days ago...the interview email was a little shocking since it was sooo quick.

yeah my stats are above that cutoff. i didnt know they had automatic invites.

and it is APPLE CUP weekend...this is going to be FUN!

Sweet, Invite for 2-13-06...Can't wait.

are your stats above their cutoff for an automatic interview? (~3.5 + 9 or higher on MCAT sections?).

what a sweet deal for in-staters! good luck!

I'm interviewing one week from today.... As a re-app I'm a bit nervous. Last time it went really well and resulted in almost a year of waiting so I'm not sure how to feel about it this time. :scared: Good luck all!

Hi, Olydoc. I'm glad you are shooting for UDub again. I have a good feeling about you getting in this time. They LOVE reapplicants! I wish you the very best of luck. 🙂

Is the automatic invite reqs 3.5+ AND 9+? OR? 9+ seems pretty low relative to the 3.5 GPA.

Thanks for the encouragement, neurosync! How's you're first year going? Do you like the block curriculum? Are you adjusting to the madness? UW is definitely still my first choice..... I sure hope they love THIS reapplicant!
🙂

Hey guys!

UW had their first day of interviews 10/4. The first ExCom meeting is at the end of this month. I was told that they meet monthly into Dec, and pick it up to twice-three times a month from Jan-Mar (their busiest time).
They have moved to a paperless system: meaning the interview commitee all sit behind these laptops, look up your info/take notes on it.
But don't be too thrown by it, the committee members don't hide behind the screens while they interview you... 😉

Good luck to you all!
Remember: Persistence is the key! If you really want to be a doctor, you will find a way.... 😀

We were the test subjects for the new block schedule. There will be some changes made for next year (I'm on the curriculum committee, so I'll tell you more as I know), but overall, everyone seemed VERY happy with the five week block and we are all glad to have things slow WAAAAY down. It feels like I have a lot of time to play right now. And the good news is that everyone passed the class. It was a push, for sure, but it was a lot of fun, too. Just plan on having no life for the first five weeks next year (because I know you'll get in this time!!!). 🙂

I'll be happy to talk to any of you before the start of classes in the fall to tell you what you REALLY need to know and how to study. It's not bad at all. I LOVE UW and I LOVE MEDICAL SCHOOL. I hope to see everyone next year.

Yay, I got my interview invite today. For 11/21, which is terrific because I can then just stay home for thanksgiving.

Question: will there be other programs planned for the applicants interviewing each day? Like a tour? I know WashU has a whole day planned, but I've heard very few schools go all out to schmooze with the applicants.

Question: on my application, I selected yes for "would you be willing to spend the first year at Washington State" (i forget the exact location) because I thought it might increase my chances of getting in. Is that a binding decision if I do get accepted? I'd rather be in Seattle, but not if it means the difference of an acceptance.

Congrats on your invite!

You get a tour, and at lunch you get to meet with students, have a short presentation from financial aid, minority affairs office, and the admissions commitee (They were still in the process of finishing a new info video when I interviewed, but you should get to see it at yours).

Basically, some students elect to go to WSU outright for their first year. If there are still openings, the students who offered to go will be put in a lottery and selected at random. I believe, outside of any mitigating circumstances (for instance, a family member gets ill, and you need to stay in Seattle to help care for them), you have to go, or you forfeit your spot.
BUt from what everyone has told me, the students who go to WSU absolutely loved the smaller size and personalized attention. And you come back for second year to the main campus.
Good Luck!

Just a friendly hello to teh reapplicants who held my hand last year and scolded me for not taking my UW offer.... I love school but I miss Seattle. Can't help but second guess my decision to go elsewhere some days. Can I live vicariously through you?? 😳

Hi there!
So you decided on Utah in the end?
Yeah... hard to coem down from Seattle.. I spent two years out in Philly, and everyday I would complain that I missed home. I even missed the rain... 😛

In either case, good luck in MSI! I'm sure you will kick butt!
I will be there on the 31st for my interview (ugh)
didn't get off either wait list, but I'm hoping for the best this year. 🙂

I did and that is so funny because I too say I even miss the rain. I even miss the hundreds of teryaki joints and smell of homeless urine on the Ave. The weekends are the worst because I want to head down to Alki or eat at a hole in the wall in the International District. I've already been looking at Harborview residencies. Too crazy. I love my class and have a great school as far as facilities, professors, and support. I'm even class president for Hell's sake -- but there's just something about Seattle that weaseled it's way into my blood. If I could have UofU SOM, cleanliness and friendliness of Salt Lake, and the really cool electric light rail of Salt Lake situated in Seattle I'd be in heaven. Call me Marie Antoinette!!!

*haha*
I suppose we can't all have our cake and eat it too... 😛
Well, if there's anything you are craving from Seattle, and it can fit in my carry-on, I'll be happy to bring it with me in a couple weeks.
Although, teriyaki might not make it all the way (I would probably eat it on the plane) and I can't bottle the smell of a Sunday morning on Alki or Ave. urine... 😀

just got my first interview invite today from UW. This is my top choice school, so I'm really nervous. My interview is 11/2

Anyone interview on this day?
