Okay, my university does not accept some classes that I took at a community college and a private college.. So, even though those don't convert to the university, will med school still consider these grades?

Also, on calculating GPA, do you do this per credit hour? Such as a class worth 3 credits and I get an A in the class is going to be 12, whereas a 1 credit class A is just 4?

Just wondering on both of these because at the community college, I was in a surgical tech program, where I got an A in a 10 credit class, so that would be 40 to include in my GPA calculation?

Just want to make sure I'm understanding where I'm at GPA wise for med school.

Thanks.

a 10 credit hour class?

Yes, it was a surgical technologist program I graduated from at a community college. There's also two 7 credit classes and a 6 credit class..

It's weird, that's why I was wondering if I would include those in my gpa calculation?

yes. in fact you have to report all classes taken at any college, and it will be factored into your gpa. As far as calculating GPA, you enter into AMCAS as it appears on the transcript, and they will convert everything to a uniform scale.

So, let's say your transcripts use different systems like this.
School A: Biology 101: A (1.0 credits)
School B: Chemistry 101 A (4 semester hours)

AMCAS will convert the 1.0 credit course into a 4.0 sem hours when calculating GPA so that it's all uniform.

Okay, and do they consider +'s and -'s except A+'s right? For example, an A+ at my university is 4.00 but a B+ is a 3.33.

Yes, but AMCAS counts all +/- as .3 or .7 (not .33 or .66)
