Hey Guys
Can any one who is currently at UofA Med school or applied to UofA describe what to expect from the community interview. I know its a day spent with a practicing physician. But what exactly happens? Do they ask you interview style questions or you just observe them in practice. WHat are you supposed to wear. Casual or formal?

Thanks for your inputs

I applied there last year and was accepted but I ended up going to another school. I think it all depends on the doctor you interview with. I had to contact the office and the lady there was new and didn't know anything so it took me a while to get in. I have heard from others that the doctor told them it was casual, showed up in jeans and took them out to mexican food. I met with my interview for about 1/2 hr in his office on his lunch break. He really just talked to me about how all the internal medicine positions in the US are being taken up by fmgs and didn't really ask me any questions. I wore a shirt and tie. Hope this helps.

i'm a 3rd year at UA.

wear your suit/tie for males or formal interview attire for a female...better to be over dressed than under...plus most people familiar with med school interviews expect professional dress.

mine was 1 hour interview during the lunch hour with a family practice doctor asking me all the standard questions. no "shadowing" for the day or anything like that.

best of luck.

Mine was just an hour or so as well. Pretty low key. Wear suit and be prepared for interview style qs. But more than likely you will just chat.
U of A is pretty chill.
