Hello Everyone, I am having a difficult time of choosing from these two great medical schools and was hoping for some advice.
1.) Uni of Arizona
Adv:
A.) Close to my family. It is an 1hr plane ride and 5 hrs by car, so I can at leat visit them once a month
B.) Great Weather.
C.) Small class size, so less competition
D.) Better fit. I like the curriculum a lot more. The Dean really wants me to attend the school.
DisAdvantages:
A.) Poor ranking. Meaning it would be harder to get into competitive specialties and residencies. Not impossible, but more work. Also harder to get back to LA
B.) Only 15 years old so might have fewer resources.

2.) Case Western -OHIO
Adv:
A.) Top 25 school. Makes it very easy to get into a good specialty and a residency back In los Angeles
B.) Old school, so they have a lot of resources to be involved in such as research, community service.
DisAdvan:
A.) Far from family. 5 hr plane ride, so can't visit them.
B.) Terrible weather. you get snow for 5-6 months and the temp is -10 C. So harder transistion.

If you were in my shoes, which school will you choose?

Seems like you like Arizona much more and I'm pretty sure plenty of their students match into California residencies. Look up the match lists to see for yourself.

Don't make a decision based on a faculty member wanting you to attend.

If you're planning on a low/mid competitive specialty you'll have no trouble matching in LA. If it's one of the highly competitive specialties, it will be very hard coming from Phoenix.
