Hi 🙂
I just got an interview to University of Buffalo.
I was wondering if anyone that interviewed there could share about your experience.
I would greatly appreciate it.

Hey congrats, just got mine tonight as well! Have you chosen a day yet?
 
The email was sent out quite late. Call in the AM.
 
My letters were received on 7/27 so between 4th or 5th batch? I received an email saying completion of application and being sent to Admissions.

Few weeks later I received this email stating:

Following initial review by the Student Admissions Committee, your application has been placed in "Continuing Review." This category is used by the committee for those applications it is not prepared to take final action on at the present time.

All applications in the "Continuing Review" category receive periodic review, and a change in your status may occur. You will be informed immediately of any change in the status of your application. You may also find information regarding your application status on the AADSAS Web Portal.

Thank you for your interest in the School of Dental Medicine, and congratulations on your decision to pursue a career in dentistry.

does this mean waitlisted or rejection?

i got the same e-mail today
i searched forum and some still got interview invites after receiving that email
and some say its just a rejection... not sure.. just feeling so gloomy right now🙁
 
cheesein, if you don't mind, could you post your stats? thanks 🙂
 
Buffalo takes about 50% of the students they interview. The numbers are good. Many school only accept 20-30% of the people they interview. This is good news.
 
Buffalo typically will interview around 300 and take 90, so a little closer to 30%.
 
Just got Interview invite from Buffalo ! Scheduled for Sept 7. I booked an Inn 5mins walk from campus, double queen room the night before interview. Pm me (male) if interested in sharing.

Sept. 7? When I called to schedule a few weeks ago they told me only dates in November were available lol

The interview was stress free. It began with an informative presentation. Then writing sample for 10 mins. Then a case scenario with Dr. Brown. And finally traditional interview with two faculty and a 4th year student. After that was lunch with students and adcom. Everybody is nice and friendly. Fantastic experience!!!🙂

I had interview on 09/07 ,not 09/17. To be honest, I can remember all candidate faces, but not all their names. 🙂 Good luck to your dental application!!! :xf::xf::xf:

I just got the email placing me in continuing review...Buffalo isn't a top choice for me but it was one of the one's I thought I had a really good chance of getting into. At least I have an interview at NYU for now...still waiting to hear from 3 others.

My stats were 23AA 22TS, and a 3.27 cumulative and 3.46 science.

Kind've disappointing...but I'm still hopeful I'll be able to choose between a couple schools.

i was put under continuing review on august. dont beat yourself down for it.
 
... so I recently scheduled my interview but the soonest date was not until January. Kinda bummed that I am not in the pre-Dec. 1st round but super excited for the opportunity to interview! Anyone else in a similar situation? What does this mean for my chances of getting in since I am in the later crew?

I interviewed at Buffalo around mid-September. You will have a blast and everyone is super nice. It's a great experience, just relax and be yourself. 👍
 
Hi everyone..I scheduled my interview a couple weeks ago (my interview isn't until November) but I just realized that unlike the other schools I am interviewing at, I never got an "interview confirmation" e-mail after scheduling it. Is that normal? Should I call to double check my interview date....? :scared:

If you're talking about OOS, then yep! Out of 1376 OOS applicants - 11% (151) were interviewed, 5% (69) were accepted. Good luck!

This is not true - of the 462 in state applicants, 35% (161) were interviewed and 22% (101) were accepted. Approx. 62% of in state applicants who were interviewed, were accepted. This is compared to the 45% of OOS students that interviewed, who were accepted.

Since you rescheduled it a few weeks ago I don't see the harm in calling and kindly asking if it is possible to confirm an interview date that you re-scheduled. Just be nice 🙂

You'll receive the interview confirmation email about a week before your interview date. Good luck and have fun!
 
90 is the general class size. they accept more than the class size, as some who are accepted choose to enroll elsewhere.

The writing sample was not something you could have prepared for. The question was very straightforward, as they are really just trying to get a feel for how you express yourself, as far as I could tell.

In my interview group there were 12 or so applicants. The formal interview and the case scenario are both 1 interviewee speaking with 1 or more interviewers.
 
Go to 3rd floor and sit in the admissions office until most of the applicants arrive.

You are first seated in a room with applicants.

Barbara will introduce herself and the program to you guys, then you're given 10 minutes to complete a writing sample. It's just one page. Fairly straightforward question.

Then they show you a video of the school.

A few students from D1-4 will come and talk to you about the program, during which you can ask questions. It's very informal and mostly just for you to probe them around and get a feel for student life and such.

One by one, you will be pulled for

1) case study 1 on 1 discussion with a faculty
2) traditional interview

Some get interviewed first and some get the case first. You don't know which will go first, except for they will call you and you leave the room to go with them.

Then a little more info session, and then tour, then lunch and that concludes it.
 
Does anyone have an idea of how many students Buffalo interviews and how many students they accept?

my mistake, still does anyone get an email after interview? buffalo was the only one in my interview list that send post interview email

I received one as well, I believe from Dr. Brown. I thought it was a nice touch to an already great interview experience!
